Hey guys.

I'm organizing an upcoming video gaming related charity event soon, which involves a 25 hour livestream.  I had been thinking of playing from my own collection for background music during this stream, but then I realized it might be more fun to get you all involved as well.  I figure I'm going to need about 8 hours of music to cover the event without getting too repetitive (more is better, of course tongue).

As a developer for PlanetMinecraft.com, I'm in a position to make this event kinda big.  We're currently anticipating in the area of 300k viewers throughout this event, with a possibility for more depending on how many of the pending guest spot invitations confirm their appearances. I will be hosting our livestream from a booth at Minecon, Mojang's official convention for the game, where I will be running video feeds, bringing on guests from the showrooms & panels, and collecting donations.

Because this event will be reaching such a wide audience, and because several portions will be recorded for later upload, I do not want to step on any toes when it comes to copyright and distribution.  I came here to ask for direct permission to use material, and (hopefully) get some new material to play for this event.

I am willing to set up backlinks and graphics in our 'sponsors' section of our charity website, www.minecraftcharity.org, for anyone willing to send some material, whether it is actually used for the event or not.

If you're interested in helping out, or want to hear more details about what I'm organizing, get at me here, twitter, or skype @ Cipher_Punk

So this is for charity, right? Not for profit?
In that case, anything you find here http://chipmusic.org/sketchman3 or here http://ucollective.org/profile/SketchMan3/ you can use if you like it. Just toss a link back My soundcloud if you use anything.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll get to tossing up backlinks and downloading things tomorrow. You guys are great smile

I am going to have to stretch my bandwidth for this event to run the livestream in less than optimal conditions (seriously, convention internet is extortion) so I'll need local copies of anything. I am not opposed to buying albums from you all; I mostly just wanted to be sure I had permissions to use them. Of course, free is always better. tongue

Yes, this is for charity. The Extra-Life charity raises money for the Children's Miracle Hospitals Network, which is a group of hospitals who cover medical expenses for children without medical insurance. Extra-Life is a gaming community that works alongside the charity; they fundraise all year, with one major event at the beginning of the fiscal year they call the 'International Day of Play.'

I've been running events with this charity for four years now; all of the money raised is handled directly through their site, so it's not actually handled by anyone but the charity workers themselves.

I tossed up as many links as I could think of to answer any questions you might have, but feel free to ask any more if you don't feel like going looking for answers.

Download links are easy to find on my site (the albums can be downloaded as a single .zip with mp3 or flac, or individually as mp3) but if you have any questions or need different file formats just shoot me an email or PM.
