Nope a biversion will make it even harder to see. the only real thing you could do is use a gameboy colour as their screens are awesome in the sun.

Yeah i've tried with GBCs (since they're even smaller), but for my little street-amp i really need the bB bust that i get on the prosounded dmg. smile
Yay. Thank you for the infos. smile

maybe you could try a front lit DMG? it wouldn't be as good as a backlit one in the dark, but it would be better in the daylight

lol awesome.  Thanks for the reassurance.  I didnt know if there was any extra wiring or other steps.  Have you noticed better performance from your gameboy in processing power?  I'm considering trying this because my gameboy tends to freeze in live mode on some of my more complicated songs.

as for performance, they are basically DMG chips with a different boot strap, its only how they start that is different

there is no extra wiring needed its a straight swap, but you need decent soldering skills.

i worked out a way to fix it which would be adding a transflective layer to the back of the LCD but the problem is i have no idea where to get it from and it seems to cost a stupid amount of money. i was going to have a go with some mirror tinting film for car windows, but i cant get at it at the moment.

i saw a post on 8bc about this
apparently you can get really cheapo ipod screen covers that do the job !!

matt's mind

a (very) basic intro to desoldering: http://store.curiousinventor.com/guides … esoldering

(good) lowmelt solder: http://www.ameritronics.com/lowmelt_des … uickly.htm

some other i've never personally tried, but it has good reviews: http://www.chipquikinc.com/

maybe that will help out those not in-the-know already about how to do this...
