Is there anyone that sells the ribbon cable for the dmg?

Or better yet if someone ever made a replacement front pcb for it?

I have 2 nonworking gameboys both with bad ribbon cables or te pcb in the front does not work. it would be awesome to bring them back to life.

can't you just solder the erroneous cables with a wire?

Someone did this on a TI83 calculator: http://lowpowerlab.com/blog/2012/12/29/ … lator-fix/

i was hoping i would not have to go the solder the wire route. i remember seeing a old thread on here
where someone actually did that with the gameboy.

i thought there would be a easier way tho.

you could find a ribbon cable from another device. there are plenty of scrap electronics. how many wires are there? if you manage to  find one with more than is needed, you can trim them away with a razor.

The problem is that the wires required actually go under the LCD itself. Replacing the ribbon is not really plausible and doing it with individual wires would be crazy hard.

I suggest just keeping it as is and waiting for a replacement option. The CPU is most valuable thing inside. Keep it for later.
