I find the android phones Much more useful for my lifestyle. I need to travel for family, and i can use open source tools to allow me to tether my phone without fees or hassles from the man. Plus I dont have to install any sync apps to manage my software or media. iTunes runs like shit on windows, so android seems the only sensible alternative.

Nokia n900 with Maemo (based off Debian). I'm really enjoying it. And with Intel and Nokia partnering to develop the open source OS Meego for the n900 and future devices I reckon you'll get a lot of life out of that handset.

They have another handset that will be the first official Meego device coming out soon called the n9. It looks really sweet.

I absolutely love my HTC desire, I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in a smartphone (and not willing to undergo the closeness of the iPhone platform). Also, yay for Android Monome. smile
