I have a serious issue on my hands. Whenever I record a song and export it as an mp3 in Audacity, it ends up sounding really low quality and bad. Any advice on this would be great. I only have a laptop.

Did you check the mp3 export settings? It's under Options in the export file menu.

yeah you wanna make sure you're exporting that jawn at 320 kps. Also, if audacity's mp3 function is being retarded, I recommend exporting as .wav, then converting with something like foobar or vlc.

WMD: For Audacity, you have to install an MP3 codec. Here's a pointer:

start using reaper instead of audacity.  it kind of blows for recording, i liked it at first but then was really unhappy with it.
