tl;dr: how do i get full chord sounds across three channels (2 pulse and wave).

So I run LSDJ on two gameboys. One gameboy is just the music, straight to a mixer. The other gameboy is my carrier signal which runs straight to my vocoder pedal (EHX 256).

I typically program the vocoder melody using the wave channel and using a sawtooth wave. It sounds good and reacts well depending on my inflection. However I'd like to do some chords utilizing the pulse channels. Problem is they just never come out sounding full. The pulse channels either pop way too much or just sound out of place.

Any suggestions? I have an EQ pedal that I'm going to throw between the gameboy and vocoder and see if that helps.

I have a similar setup, but I jsut ahve lsdj send the midi directly to the vocoder device, doesnt the 256 have its own carrier signal?

You also might try running the squares through distortion to warm them up?

Yeah the 256 has MIDI in and an internal synth. I suppose I could try that!

I'll also try the square wave idea since I have an overdrive pedal lying around that I could use.

Thanks!
