No hijacking on your end.. anything FM/opl3 related is fine with me!! Keep us updated... i would imagine that more people are using dosbox than actual ms-dos anyways... so your research will be informing others..

Cool. There are some reports @ Subzero's AdlibTracker2 message board about the use of YMF724s but short on details.
There is also Chocolate Doom, a port of Doom for modern PCs with the goal of recreating the original DOS game play. The nice thing is that it supports OPL hardware. The developer uses a YMF724, but I don't know if the project is based on DOSbox or is a re-write/wrapper of the original Doom code.
For anyone interested I've updated the thread I started about FreqMon801 with my install notes, might be helpful.

hey yogi ive got a ymf724

it works fine with boomtracker/sadtracker/dfm which are all opl2 tho ive never tried it with adtrackerii because i dont care about opl3

the driver installer is for win95 although the drivers themself are for dos. i installed the drivers from win95 and just boot in dos mode to run the trackers

you could probably copy the drivers to a freedos usb stick if you wanted to do it on a modern pc, im sure the installer doesnt do much apart from put the drivers in a folder on your c drive
