I'm on the fringe. Some may say my music is not "chip music." For one, I'm not modifying Gameboys. Even worse, I'm not even using emulators. (Not yet.) In fact, I have only recently learned about this music genre. Be that as it may, my music owes a great deal to 8-bit chip music. It's probably got something to do with the fact that 8-bit music is the first music that would just play in my head for hours. Who didn't hear the cutscene music to Ninja Gaiden after you turned the Nintendo off? Mike Tyson's Punchout? Oh god, and Tetris?! (Videogamer since 1984.) If you try my stuff I'm sure you'll agree, the videogame nerd in me shines through, but clearly it's grounded in other music. Hopefully you can hear a good deal of my love for shoegazer and post-rock.
