Battery powered music ensemble is a jam and open mixer session. Inclusive, fun and inviting (and at times and epic mass of grinding handheld techno!). BPM features solo artists, small ensembles and touring artists, all within an open space of structured improvisation and collaboration.
Inspired by conversations, late night jam sessions, and months of headphone composition and production, Jesse Garcia, Elias Foley and an evolving cast of engineers, players, technicians and producers took these ideas and have been expanding upon them using ensemble based improvisation and collaborative development. Other notable founding members are Doug Smith, one of the founding members of Pink Martini, and Kranky recording artist Tim Gray (aka Ethernet).
Elias Foley's work spans theater, short films, dance, audio/visual installations, music composition, cooking and baking. Elias also releases music under the monikers, EF56 & Daddy Longlegs. His collaborations with Jesse Garcia have lead to Black Daddy and the Battery Powered Music Ensemble. After 3 plus years of deep headphone astral journeying and patient production, guitarist and electronic producer Taron Barefield’s and Elias’ project Star Kaleider is set to release there debut in 2011.
