I have Livid block and code. their software is not very user friendly. I mainly just assign buttons and knobs in ableton live. The thing is that I do not think there is a way to assign midi cc messages to knobs in ableton live... unless you guys know of a way. Looks really easy with that max effect strip... how hard is it to create such a device in max for live? I would love a way to make a midines effects strip somehow. then I could easily assign my knobs to midi cc messages....

Would people benefit from a quick video guide as to how to use the above two Live devices?

Absolutelly!

EDIT: Answered too son. Didn't realize it was a MAX patch, I thought it was a regular live device sad

i mean, i love your work! i have a lot of trouble mapping cc# through ableton.

What do you have trouble with? Hopefully the Live devices above can be of assistance!

thats exactly what i was looking for. i wish i could find a way to map directly to a cc in ableton.
for example, ive been using vopm's to emulate sega, but never figured out how to turn off polyphony.
i think it's cc#126, but its not directly on the softwares interface, so ableton wont map to it.
i used to do it in cubase and reaper, but cant find if theres a way to send the same message
using Live. your channel strip will help a lot. just want to find a way to build a similar interface
myself.

On the issue of mapping to MIDI CCs... I've made a generic interface for this very issue...

Check this post out: http://little-scale.blogspot.com.au/201 … evice.html

"Sometimes I find it useful to be able to send MIDI CC data from a Live track, or to be able to route a MIDI CC from a physical MIDI controller to a different MIDI CC on a track. This plugin allows both. Eight pairs of control - within each pair, one control sets the MIDI CC number and the other sets the MIDI CC value."

Maybe of interest?

Seb, just a extreme n00b question (because I have no idea how max for live works): I can't use these devices if I have only "standard" ableton live, right?

You can get a free max trial here http://www.ableton.com/maxforlive or buy it for 167 bucks

also, the runtime is free, so with a littke work, the community might collobrate some devices that could control the sega.

Yes, the Runtime for Max is free - I have a sound editor for GenMDM which looks like this:

This is for a slightly older version of the GenMDM, so I need to update it a little to include some newer features.

This will be released as an OS X app and as a Max patch, which can be run for free under Max runtime.

The point of this editor is basically to set up and explore sounds... it doesn't have quite the functionality of the channel strip, but I will see if I can build a free solution to map any MIDI CC ---> GenMDM data.
