I had a plan for gameboy-based workstation like the mpc, mainly a midi sequencer with different tracks. In first place it should only transfer midi in and out, sound output isn't so important. since my new flatmate is electronic IT guy, it shouldn't be too hard to programm 
the hardware side would be nearly the same as the arduinoboy.
