I always find it cute how smug people who don't use new/popular Internet technologies are. They're just SO proud of themselves.

Facebook is just a tool, if you put garbage in, you get garbage out.

That being said, I personally am notified of releases from netlabels from Twitter and Facebook before I see it elsewhere. Also, when performers setup event pages for gigs, I get reminders and notifications of dates.. all in one spot. It's a great tool for promotion. I'm also able to easily retweet/share releases/gigs with other people with a click of a button, so out they go to even more people, who may pass it along to another set of people.

Obviously, it SHOULD be used in conjunction with other tools. So, do your website, your RSS, your mailing lists.. but if you ignore Twitter/Facebook because you think you're just "too cool" for it, you're just missing out on reaching people. Period.
