Ha, it came today - a new ZX Spectrum clone called ZX-UNO, a Spanish machine.

Very tiny, in shape of the Raspberry Pi 1 (but still the cases/boxes should be cut-off in some places), supposedly has TurboSound (two AY chips sound) - I will be testing it in weekend, heh...

And who will tell me NOW in the aeroplane that my concert equipment is TOO HEAVY! wink

Oh wow. Was it pricey?

Hi,
I wouldn't say so - the final price was 73 EUR.
I took the ZX from here: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/d … side-spain

I've seen this thread. I thought it would only ship in September. You're lucky you got it that fast!

...and I thought Speccy2010 was a small clone. smile
But this one is simply TINY. smile
Maybe I'll make some test AY / YM recordings from it, if I have a chance.

Well, there IS a number of software pieces, to use. smile http://zxtrackers.republika.pl/

Yes, please, and some beeper music as well. I could record the same from the MiST FPGA and we could compare wink

Kind of unrelated:

ZX is sample based? Or can it produce its own sounds?

both. It can use some 1bit samples and / or use generated 1bit sound using the beeper, and / or use the AY soundchip

Edit: on this track Yerzmyey said it's using 4bit samples. Is it using the beeper or the AY soundchip for outputing the music? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MNHP-hBMLI

Aha, OK - I'll get back to You. Weekend, I presume.

You can switch it on the SampleTracker. I use AY but people use BEEPER (1-bit) or Covox (8-bit, Amiga quality, but still 3 channels on the SampleTracker, sadly I don't know whether ZX-UNO has Covox implemented. Will check it out too).

Nanode:

Mainly it produces its own sounds (synthetic music). The soundchip is the same what was in Amstrad/Schneider, Atari ST, MSX.

It can play 3 channels of samples but it's rather for very lo-fi musicians (it's only 4-bit quality).
Sounds like this -

Maaaaan, seems like the AY implementation is pretty damn amazing.

It's 1:1 recording (I even left the shit-noise at the start & the end to let You know what You will have to noise-gate, just in case).
Very dynamic, hard sound. Cool.

OK, if You wanna compare the recordings, pls let me know, I'd put the SNA in some place.

Digi recording from ZX-UNO:

Really, I would think it comes from the British Spectrum from 80s. Extremely well-done implementation.

please post or send me the sna or tap and I'll record them from MiST board.
