not sure if it's just my PC but occasionally the program won't let me enter a note higher than, say, D#4. It'll recognise the note input, but no matter what note above it I enter, it just puts the D#4 note in.

after a bit of screwing around it "unsticks", but I'm just wondering what could cause this?

i've gotten that a few times too

There is some problem with keyboard code in the program, but it happens very rarely and unpredictable, so I can't catch it to figure out what is wrong. For me it sometimes happens after holding Enter to play a pattern, it suddenly starts to enter a note, and every next key enter that note.

This is one of the best news this summer. I've always wanted to compose music for the Megadrive, now this is possible. But...

I have a few bugs / suggestions for you, Shiru.

1. When playing samples you cannot enter note retriggers / cuts / delays. I don't know if this was the case with the original Megadrive, but it is kinda annoying.

2. PSG lowest pitch was 110 Hz, you're currently one note above that.

3. The PSG tonal noise could be played chromatically. Test the game Marble Madness on the Master System, and you can hear it being played as a bass on level 2.

Apart from these minor bugs you really got me going with this tool!

1. SMD has no HW sample playing capabilities. I'm just lazy to support these effects, as it will add a new layer of complexity, bugs, etc. Maybe in future versions.

2. PSG bottom limit is one semitone below in VGM MM compared to Mod2PSG2, and it is already off a bit.

3. Don't really understand what you mean and lazy to search and play the game. If you talking about periodic noise that can be used as notes, it is supported, explained in the docs (example).

Cool! Thanks for the example as I am a much more visual hands on kind of guy. I learned something new about this awesome tracker. smile

Well when it comes to tonal noises all I get is A4 when I play C,A3 when I play C#, A2 when I play D, and A0 when I play D#. This repeats in that order for the rest of the keys. That is in the tracker when I write down music. It works just fine in the instrument editor. That's the same process with regular noise. I don't know why you've done this way, but it would certainly be better if one could use chromatic noise inside the tracker as well as in the instrument editor.

It was answered just above your post. That's how hardware works.

This is so beautiful I couldn't speak for a month. Just kidding. I hadn't been paying attention to software development @ chipmusic for this long, and look what happened.

@Shiru: You are a god!

Hello from Spain. Someone can explain why the DAC part sounds detuned?:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/ezvwsxue9 … estiny.BIN  < - Rom compiled with VGMPlay (60Hz)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zguawvy9s … cMaker.ogg <- Output from VGM Music Maker

I tried to make a song entirely sung, but I had many problems after all. The fact is that not the DAC part sounds detuned, also the entire song sound a bit detuned respect the original file on VGMMM. I know, maybe the 2612 ins't designed on a 440hz tune basis, but who knows. Someone can trow some (constructive) answers?

(By the way, I've explained all the process here, but unfortunately it is very long to translate correctly from Spanish to English, but well: http://www.elotrolado.net/viewtopic.php?p=1725969364)

Hello. Some users of Elotrolado tested for me another song I've made for testing purposes. It has been tested on a MD1 VA4, a CD-X at 50 & 60hz (on both systems) with an Everdrive flashcart, but with the same results in every freq.
