Also, vibrations in the air (and matter) exist.

Chiptune doesnt really even exist, its all metaphysical 1s and 0s interpreted by a 20+ year old circuit board. I guess the headphone jack exists. Im not trolling by the way I actually think like this sad

Chip Unce
This was massively popular in 2008-2009, but has slightly waned in popularity since. Famous for hyper melodies, four to the floor kick drum and always a very high tempo. Generally the Game Boy is the most popular instrument.

It seems 2008 hasn't ended for me.

Eventually I want to get a chipgrind project going. Think Pig Destroyer but with FM synthesis.

in the end, these are the terms I usually hear ACTUALLY go around:

chip-step
chiptune
ska-chip
chipthrash (in LA people actually use it who are not me)
chip-unce
nintendo core

thats pretty much everything i hear.. everything else is like, a weird description of what an artist is doing..

There do seem to be a few loose very groupings of music which are pretty consistent:

Arpy 4/4ish dance music. Ensnare/Trash 80
Gameboy ish Dubby / Bassy music. Minikomi/???/Cheapshot
NES centered prog rocky music. virt/heosphorus/disasterpeace

in all honest, it think all music should be less about genre, and more about your PERSONAL thing.

That's easy to say, but different styles in music don't exist for the sake of genre cassification much more than different species of animals exist for the sake of biological classification. Of course, it's quite a bit more complex than that, but the point of my analogy is that it can be a PERSONAL thing and still be subject to classification. Genres aren't things that we come up with out of the blue to impose on your work as much as they are existing patterns that we try to identify and define.
