Thretris you do know you dont have to use the DMG-07 cable just because it has the 5V pin.

You can use any DMG link cable, Trash80's pin swap > http://www.flickr.com/photos/trash80/29 … 324137185/

Did you know about this? Just for anyone else's benefit too i suppose.

Theres a thread on 8bc about it too.

Yeah, this is just a basic guide (color by numbers if you will), not including any of the technical stuff about using cables without the 5v (although I personally do know)

This more like a "keyboard for dummies" guide, for people not even wanting to use a multimeter.

Although I do mention, you can use the DMG-04 as long as it is Nintendo brand. I have not tried it, but Kitsch told me its the same as the 07, just 3rd party stuff wont carry the 5v. (I mentioned all this in my guide)

Question: When you take pictures of your custom painted NES's and stuff like that, how do you do your background behind the NES? Like what do you put it in/on/in front of when you are taking the picture to get that studio look? I have a nikon D40 so I kinda want to try doing some backgrounds for the pc and what not, and I want to know how to get that backdrop

I get this alot so I will answer in public... I have mentioned before I design action figures for a living, you can take a peak at the photography section of this tutorial from my real jobs website http://www.kylerobinsoncustoms.com/links/starters.htm

ignore all the stuff about "figures" and apply it customs..lol. (and yes, this is old, 6mpx...lol.. c'mon)

but yeah, diffusion is god amongst product photography. the background I use is silver, adds even more light disbursement.

also, here is blog about my light bulbs from a while back, im sure you can still find them
http://kylerobinsoncustoms.com/blog/200 … an-afford/

here is my current set up

if I missed anything you still want to know... just ask

2. Thoroughly clean with warm water and grease removing dishsoap..... mmm nah

3. Thoroughly dry.... joking right

4. Lightly sand smooth any nicks, dings, scuffs, or scratches with super fine grain sand paper.... drop it on the way to outside

5. ???????????????????

6. paint desired design or color scheme in well ventilated room, around room temperature. (painting in the cold is no no)  ..... it was snowing... no joke

... really what happend, haha

HAHAHA nice wink

Yeah, as far as I know, he is doing his testing on NEStopia for Mac. It should take to any emulator just fine.

Mute City might be up to the task of doing carts when the time comes. I already talked to him about. Run about 35$ shipped. It would be nostalgic to have permanent cart for NTRQ, but also scary since im sure there will be many updates. i for one have no beef with buying a power pak, there is just too much great homebrew out there anyway.

What's the best way to go about doing this?

I have a Super Nintendo I'd love to paint, but I'm quite the novice when it comes to being cool like everyone else. What's the best type of paint to use? Any specific kinds that bond only to plastic or what have you? Is it best to use a base coat? Tank q.

1. Disassemble
2. Thoroughly clean with warm water and grease removing dishsoap
3. Thoroughly dry
4. Lightly sand smooth any nicks, dings, scuffs, or scratches with super fine grain sand paper
5. apply base coat of automotive adhesion promoter (makes paint 100% stronger on ABS plastics)
6. paint desired design or color scheme in well ventilated room, around room temperature. (painting in the cold is no no)

As far as brands are concerned, I it really does not matter as long as your taking your time and applying nice light coats, multiple times. I prefer Krylon quality or above. Adhesion promoter can be purchases at any automative store that carries paint (If you can afford it, I suggest you buy your paint there too)

I prefer satin or even flat to gloss or high gloss enamels since they tend to ripple and also not take to other gloss paints very well.

there 1000 other tricks and technique, but that pretty much comes with experience... I suggest carrying spray cans with where ever you got and defiling anything that is hidden enough from the public eye for you not to get caught.

(that last part is optional wink )

new update.. WOOT!!

Thretris, where do you get so many DMGs?

Various places.

large broken eBay lots I repair myself
thrift stores
trades
Supply from online shops such as Nonfinite, Kitsch, DMGs-R-Us

most of these will end up being just custom cases, about 10-20 will be full DMGs and either auctioned off, or sold as request.

I mainly scour ebay for hours for big boxes of broken DMGs for like 10 bucks. Then repair them when possible.
