I've started something with the Sega Megadrive chip. It's only the first part at the moment and it sounds rather rough, something like the Orange Mecanique / Clockwork Orange's theme: http://2a03.free.fr/dl.php?file=5288 (it's in vgm format)

edit: and since it was made with DefleMask, I can also export it to SID format: http://2a03.free.fr/dl.php?file=5289 but with only 3 voices it is quite limited.

It's not always the case for all baroque music, but some of them (I think to harpsichord music especially) have a quite harsh sound which turns well on chiptune. The same goes for some ancient instruments (crumhorn, organs)

This gargoyle's quest is nice.
The whole Castlevania franchise also has a strong baroque music feeling:

I'm an avid fan of medieval, renaissance, folk and baroque musics, and some of my own compositions have some ancient music touch (I like to see this as my trademark).

I've also made some quick or longer covers of such musics.

Here is a quick conversion of some Tielman Susato renaissance musics on C64: http://2a03.free.fr/dl.php?file=4828 (it's a C64 disk image you can use in emulator, the sid files are included in it). It was quick because I've only used the convenient midi to sid converter from sidwizard. It could be done more carefully with some rework on the instruments for example. You can get one of the sid files there: http://2a03.free.fr/dl.php?file=4825

On OPL3, I've made this which is obviously like renaissance dances: https://soundcloud.com/garvalf/cyber-danserye

This tune (on C64) was inspired by renaissance dances as well: http://garvalf.free.fr/var/upload/musiq … e1_drm.ogg
This other one a bit by baroque: http://garvalf.free.fr/var/upload/musiq … id8580.ogg

So not much pure baroque music, which is a shame. Lully's Marche pour la cérémonie des Turcs is without doubt, along with Marin Marais' Alcyone music, one of my favorites, so it could be a very very good idea to make a cover of it! So... challenge accepted.

Thank you for the information. I've tested it, it works out of the box on my pocketchip (including the plug of my midi keyboard in the usb port), that's brilliant.
The console things are only for downloading the app, and reducing the sound quality so it will be easier on the CPU.

It not on boot, but you can also start your application (littlegptracker for example) and a terminal. Type in the terminal "killall pocket-home". If you press again the home button, it will start again.

Very cool picture! I'm glad my build (I'm the OP on this https://bbs.nextthing.co thread) was useful (or maybe you've rebuilt it yourself, IDK)! I haven't used LittleGPTracker yet, I'm more into PicoLoop (which should be able to drive midi instruments as well because there is a midi out too)...

but you're welcome @rumpelfilter ! smile

From the same author, don't miss this excellent manual as well: http://csdb.dk/release/?id=129032

It really helped me to get into SidWizard!

yeah, have a look at this:

http://csdb.dk/release/?id=129033

the sidwizard user manual has also several tables for helping to compose with it.

It's safer this way but I think on emulators it's possible to overwrite files, but probably it's an emulator trick.

I've seen a cool presentation of Houston Tracker at the SteemFest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9vkxT6ddio

I've made a little set (I should update it soon btw) with some of my favorite AY / YM tunes: https://soundcloud.com/garvalf/sets/aym

I've tried my sd2iec with sidwizard this morning, I've loaded a w.i.p. track (converted from midi on my PC), and added more data in the patterns. I saved under a new filename and it worked fine. I've loaded a new tracks, and the first one, everything was there. I've added more stuff, and tried to save under the save filename and got an error message. Then I've saved under a new name and it worked, I could also reload it on my PC under an emulator (if I rename the filename to lowercase).

yeah, that's cool. Another brick in the open source movement!

hey, that could be cool. I'm not in Paris but I could take the train. I'll look if it's possible, for example on Thursday (24).
