Hello this thing is really bugging me out. I noticed that on certain DMGs with lsdj i get a high pitch whine sound coming from the wave channel when added to the other 3 channels.
When i put that same cartridge in another DMG the sound is not there.

Is this a Bug that could be fixed? Or is it just how certain gameboys CPUs are?

The reason why i am asking is because i want to sync both Gameboys together but the one marked "CPU-03" Is the one with the high pitched sound.

I have the updated version of LSDJ with that antspike fix that is supposed to kill that sound but that fix only works with certain CPU models.

I guess i will just have to accept that its just part of the Gameboy grime!

about noise filtering:

a very big capacitor (i'm using 1000 uF) on the 3V rail eliminates the hum and also the higher pitched hum/tone caused by the DMA interrupt almost completely.
there is still the very high pitched whine though. like the hum, it is constant and not affected by the volume setting, so it's not part of the pre-amp signal.

Where did you connect the 1000uf cap? Did you connect it to the AMP AGB?

I did notice there is some noise after this mod i did.

Any help would be awesome!

just checking but the gba had fairly horrible sound correct ?

The sound for the agb-001 is actually alrighr if you can pull of the prosound mod. Other wise
Just plugging a 3.5 cable into the headphone plug is really low compared to a prosound dmg or color.

I posted a picture on a different thread on the solder points on where the prosound mod is.

I installed a 3.5mm jack on my gba because i did not figure out how to wire it to the headphone out of it.

Here is the thread:

Its at the botrom

For anyone wanting to prosound mod the Gameboy advance agb-001.

The solder points are R30 & R31 thats left and right.

You cant adjust the output level with the volume but its way louder then stock level.

Here is a link of where i soldered:

Count me in on one of these.

You can also use a intellijel multi hub and make a diy sync cable. Just hack a DMG 04 cable
Attach a 3.5mm jack on the other end.

Plug the 3.5 into one of the intellijel hubs input and you have 3 outs from the hub to clock the modular

Ohhh I presume this would work in the reverse too? I'll need to dig out a schematic (well, wiring diagram for the cable) and have a bash at my own.

To have the modular clock the DMG you have to make a separate cable.

So what i did was i cut the DMG 04 cable in half and made one cable for using the gameboy as the master clock and the other half of the cable for having the modular clock the gameboy.

The schematic to make the cable is in the Lsdj manual and its easy to make if your handy with the soldering iron!

Hello i am having some weird problem with one of my EMS cartridges. I am trying to save the SAV file and i go through the process of connecting the EMS to the computer and opening up the GB USB. it recognizes the cartridge and when i got to click Write S_RAM i see the status bar go and it finishes.

Now when i check the folder to where i saved it. i see the file but its not a SAV file.

So i check another EMS cart with a different LSDJ rom and SAV and it works on that one.

If anyone has any ideas or info that would be awesome.

Hello ! I have a new tape / zine that some friends ( transrost.tumblr.com ) and i just released.
I made the sound track for it which was all composed on lsdj using one Gameboy DMG.

if your into Frieghts and graffiti then this is for you!

Here is a video snippet of the soundtrack:

looking at the peg manual it says that on the scale pot it can put out a 0 to + 10 volt envelope.
there is also a 0 to + 5 volt envelope out jack.

what are you clocking it off?  an EG, EOR ,or EOF.

anyway stoked how easy its turning out to be

i have been using the The ENV out also using the NLC jerkoff module as well as a clock using the Z output. I think any module that sends a trigger or gate will work.
So far no problems clocking the Gameboy off the modular.

You can even sync the modular to the Gameboy as well which is dope.

i have been clocking my Gameboy Dmg using LSDJ with a 4ms Peg and have no issues.
the gameboy can keep up with it as i like to adjust the tempo alot. the gameboy will lock up if i turn the 4ms peg to cycle really fast.

i also was using a Lfo from Intellijel Dixie to clock it as well.

so far no problems

the lfo into it is good to know.  it can handle +/-5v.

i'm not sure what the gates on the PEG output.  i don't see it anywhere so i'm emailing 4ms.

its really looking like i don't need to really worry that much.

its a backlit design wink

but the LCD component isn't as drop-in replaceable as you're thinking.

it'll end up being a whole front PCB replacement.  the ribbon cable will plug into the CPU PCB.

everything on the front....  replaced.  there will be a couple+ versions, with varying levels of features...

there is a FPGA involved wink

and about EVERY type of manufacturing you can imagine.  and the parts all have to FIT!!!!  ahhhhhh!

What ever happened to this? i have 2 dmgs with messed up ribbon cables. i just need two new front pcbs and they will be back from the grave.

i think alot of people would really use these so called updated front pcb panels.

Have you installed a resistor with the frontlight connecting to the positive rail? That might prevent it from draining too much energy when hitting play.

maybe a 100k resistor might work.

So with this new mono synth, will i be able to sync it to lsdj? If i had lsdj on one gameboy and mono synth on another gameboy connecting each other with the link ext. connector?
