I think the issue is the gameboy can't write to the flash. Well on second though maybe they could because I don't think the bootlegs use the SND pin for write enable, rather I think it's controlled by the memory bank controller.

Kinda didn't realize the link was straight to the zip. Here's the readme: https://github.com/catskull/Arduinoboy/ … /README.md

Notably you have to download the library and extract it in your libraries folder.

Thanks for the order btw!

Who's up for YM2018?

If the issue were power supply related I'd be fairly shocked. Almost 100% of the issues I've seen that have symptoms like you describe are link cable related. Which link cable are y'all using?

Wait what? Why wouldn't you just build it into the super gameboy at that point?

Have you tried turning off the screen in mGB? I think it's like select + start + a + b. Significantly reduces the noise.

Also are you talking about putting an arduinoby in a super gameboy, or inside the SFC itself?

Just chiming in that I get this as well using my USB arduinoboy. I assumed it was some interference with my audio interface or something but I really don't know.

Which arduinoboy are you referring to? Is it one of mine? Haven't noticed this but admittedly I haven't really looked for it either.

This is not the Revo k101 despite using the same shell. It is a gba slot but it will not boot gba carts. It's just for a micro SD adapter.

Thanks for the answers.

Is your target audience here LSDJ users, or retro gamers? I wonder if we could set something up to have some musicians come to hyperkin and get a sneak peak with some songs that tend to struggle on real gameboys.

Thanks for stopping by!

Can you confirm that it wasn't just a stock backlit gb pocket in an aluminum case?

Any idea what's up with the stereo output being touted as a new feature when all Game Boys have always had as stereo headphone jack? Or are you talking about two dedicated output jacks, or two built in speakers?

Can you confirm that it will have a functioning link port?

That link cable you linked to is a DMG/Gameboy Color cable. I've never used the nanoloop usb midi adapter, but you probably need to use a GBA cable. I'd reach out to Oliver to see if he has a known working cable.

I looked into this a bit after little sound assembly, I'm 100% convinced the random crashes that happen at shows are because of the power regulator overheating. This is definitely something I've wanted to do for a while. urbster1 is right though, the 5v is easy, the -20v is the hard part. But then I remembered last night about a project I worked with uXe on a few years back and remembered he was driving the LCD. I looked it up, and sure enough he shared how. Here's the post describing it: https://community.arduboy.com/t/arduboy-classic/293/3

That method won't for more than a 1-off because the -20v regulator is obsolete now, but I spent about an hour last night scoping out replacement parts. I think it will be doable!

Worth pointing out too that in that post uXe claims that his solution results in better contrast on the LCD.

Kinda sounds like the power regulator board might be overheating? I've never seen the screen getting darker because of it, but it's a possibility. What game are you playing when it happens? What kind of cartridge, official nintendo or some kind of flash cart?

Other idea might be simply some bad caps somewhere.
