Or use a real midi synth.

Actually that's a good question. Does anyone have a recommendation for an 8-bit hardware synth? I've seen novelty arduino based projects, are there any that people would recommend?

Decided to keep the GBA.

Cool! These kind of things are always so fun to play with. I like gradual decline more though.

Awesome!

Updated post. Still have the backlit GBA. Nobody wants it? Think of the nanoloops!

bump added tons of stuff

Also, that shell and color combo looks great! Is that an aftermarket Chinese shell, or OEM?

To help troubleshoot the bivert mod, I had a friend build me a rom. You can find it in this thread, and if you do have a problem with your bivert wiring, you will only see two color (like I did) instead of 4.

I don't think I ever posted here, but the PS/2 jack is now integrated into the regular keyboard mode. Before it had it's own mode, but now it's just the regular keyboard mode. The cool thing is you can use both midi and a PS/2 keyboard at the same time! Thanks to lskeyjay for the idea and help testing, and trash80 for help coding. Because of some uniqueness with the way the PS/2 library works, I had to move the status led to a different pin. So there are breaking changes with the official release, but it's just a matter of moving the led to a different pin. You can grab the modified source code here: https://github.com/catskull/Arduinoboy/ … e-keyboard

Also, the kits are updated for Arduinoboy version 1.3!

I have an online tool that can change the logo on a rom. I don't know how exactly it would work with nanoloop, but if you could upload the nanoloop rom, fix the logo, then re-download and flash to your cart?

EDIT: here's the tool: http://catskull.net/GB-Logo-Generator/

Neat!

I would be surprised if any of them explode. They'll probably just not last very long. I don't have experience with micro batteries specifically, but other nintendo handhelds and PSP's are ripe with false capacity claims.

I agree, I think if it's fixable, it's the bivert thing. Resolder all those joints. Check for continuity between the top part and the other side.

Maybe check the connection ribbon cable between the two PCBs?
