Not entirely sure, it can always change. I was thinking glitchNES maybe, OR SQJ until I get a GBA Transverter sorted.
In retrospect, maybe I should of gone for a gp2x.

I started with pikilpita and glitchNES with customized palettes, now i'm using 2 laptops. One with all the emulators (SQJ, pikilpita and glitchNES), second laptop takes video out from there and edits it live or using captured footage imports it into grandVJ and gets mixed from there. You'll find a set up that works for you, if you wanted to use grandVJ i know they came out with a 250$ mixer that works with its own software and the grandVJ platform, I'm picking one up this month ill post how it is.

Yeah, I guess I just have to try things out until I find something that works for me. Though I'll allways have a bit of hardware fetishism going on... I'm just not sure about spending £800 or so on a video mixer.

I have got modul8, which I'll have to learn soon.

Dubstep started as 2-step, there's no real definition. Check the first Dubstep Allstars comp/mix, not a half-step in sight. It's all garagey...

If there's anything that isn't dubstep in the scene it's the aggro/wobble stuff... no dub.

Fucking Vex'd or Kode9 all the way. Most of today's dubstep has suffered the retarded infection of UK mainstream appeal, and is now a mass of clowny wobble that belongs in a carnival or circus. (Read: Benga)
The old guys are the ones who keep it dirrrrty.

This.

Though I don't see why Benga gets such a hard time on this, there are many more producers going further down that road. He doesn't seem to be deserving of the'lowest common denominator' description people keep giving of him. I still have a lot of respect for his work.

Rusko and his many clones are probably the prime example of the problem...

ACTUAL MUSIC now: Listen to Loops Haunt. "Like Autechre making Grime". Fucking awesome

Noooo.... I wish to hear more sweet FM chipmusical stylings.

I'd submit something but I lack the skillz.

Yes. smile

I'm just starting into VJing at the moment, have only really messed about with QuartzComposer and GrandVJ(Which I don't have anymore).
Waiting on a dingoo and a pocket VBLANK in the mail.

Can anyone advise on an alternative to the hideously expensive video mixers that seem like my only option at the moment?
I'm putting together a simple dirty mixer now, but that's no good.

Ahhhgh... Never got round to doing anything for that split you mentioned on 8bc. Been too busy with a Music Tech course to make music. hmm

Handily we're doing a project currently based around drones and soundscapes at the moment. I'm going to get to experimenting with some of those GB programs today, maybe throw it through audiomulch...

Well, an 'other' option is always good, inevitably people are going to work with new and unexpected machines.
And there would have to be a large number of these tags, obviously deserving a great deal of thought.

Heh, thanks. big_smile

Not even, I'm put to shame by some of the people I know round here... neutral

And on that note I'll have to plug Acroplane. A damn fine free netlabel for experimental electronic music. Based In Belfast.

Check out wAgAwAgA's 'mrepsican' and Ebola's 'Brodmann Area' EP for some weirder dubstep.

Also, Somatic Responses "Mercury"....

Must... Stop...

The advantage in having standard tags would be that variations in spelling/spacing/punctuation could be eliminated. Perhaps some kind of checkbox system for uploading? hmm

Something tag-like, so it's searchable by standardized spelling or categories?

Yeah, sorry, I kinda went off on one there... It's mostly chill stuff though. Wasn't sure what your preferences were in the realm of dubstep...
More aggressive stuff there if that's your style: Vex'd, The Bug, some Digital Mystikz/Coki and Distance.
