I know some people are "gear-aholics", but this isn't retroconsolesandcomputerscollecting.org, it's about music.

This was the end man, the guy was trapped in there forever, in an abandoned platform.
He just lost The Game.

Haha, and here I was thinking using VSTs and Computer Trackers was almost "cheating". And ironically, I just deleted an ancient version of Milkytracker last week without even looking at it, 4mat.

As I said, you are in this becasue of the aesthetics (aren't you?) and not the methodology, so you might as well use a kazoo. As long as it sounds bleepy bloopy, it will be OK for you.

Incredible.

The next two posts, however, just make it evident that this thread is destined to doom.

You havea computer.
USE IT.
Why would you spend money in gear? After all you are after the aesthetics of chipmusic, not its processes.

Em, you can use any shit to make chiptunes. Just fucking make it instead of gathering gear. You already have tools to make it.

I find my version more representative of the majority of cheaptoon population.

Drums suck ass but otherwise I really like DS-10, it's quite fast to write down ideas and jam with melodies.

drums get better when you edit the hell out of them
but still, i cant find a huge use for this personally...fun for live jamming, not conducive to my writing style though

I find the low quality of the samples used for synthesis to produce crappy drums no matter how you edit them.

Oh! Thanks for this video!
Expands on what we were discussing in the SAM Coupe thread... From all those I preffer the Game Blaster one, which apparently is two SAA 1099 chips, that's 12 voices of PSG for your entertainment motherfuckers! big_smile

Also sold as "Creative Music System" (C/MS). I want one.

This is such an amazing tune, it sounds incredible in all versions! My favourite is the sample based, TFMX version for Amiga though.

The problem with the SB1.0 is that I think there is NO software that uses it to its fullest, like an adlib tracker but for PSG+FM.

The DS-10 is fun to play around for a while but that's it for me, I can't stand the low quality, sample based synthesis.

This is a very old one, I didn't know it went freeware now it used to be paid software.
You can make some cool acid basslines with it.

Sounds good. And A2GS soundchip was amazing... Like Gravis on PC...

This software doesn't use the Apple IIGS's Ensoniq wavetable synthesizer. This is software for legacy Apple II

Same here bro,but going at it BRUTE style is both entertaining and also educational big_smile
Someone might be able to know how to do this, just wait for a more knowledgeable voice to chip in. But as LSDJ can be hacked with a simple JAVA software, probably this one too. As you think, you just need to know the format and where are the samples. Without that info it might be impossible. Have you tried contacting 8cylinder?
