D'oh, you just said it before I posted. Micro -> CPLD -> 2A03. Clever arrangement.

EDIT: also saves you having to learn any 6502 code. smile

EDIT2: I assume that by directly feeding the 2A03 it would make it much more difficult to do anything other than audio production with the NES hardware during operation, yes?

Looking at the prototype pages for TSUNDERE, I found this:

It appears to be a cartridge prototype made by the designer, though I am not sure if it's the final design at all. I am very curious about it, because there are no ROMs on board. Did you use that cartridge for development? If so, how did it work? I notice that there are no CHR lines hooked up on the 72-pin connector, and with no spot for any kind of ROM were you just feeding it data from an Arduino perhaps?

Now I need to fix my game gears.

23 bytes. Astounding as usual 4mat. Just awesome.

Sounds like a good plan. Give me a tad to get everything organised, hopefully these will go out soon. I been working alot of overtime lately, we just lost 6 employees at work...

Not a bad idea, but do you want hardware with no software? hmm

Hmm, I have an OPL3 card and a machine it'll probably work in. Now if only I knew how to compose...

Yup, everything is done, but I have a dilemma.

I haven't been able to get hold of Blargg for a couple of weeks now.

This is bad news, because the software has not been packaged for release and has no accompanying license. While I am fairly sure he'll opt for a GPL license, I have no way of being sure without asking him, which I haven't been able to do. I am loathe to release the fruit of his hard work without a license, since it's his work and I believe he deserves to choose how he wants to license it before release. Without his consent I really don't feel right about releasing this.

This has happened before. Blargg is a very private individual and sometimes he just needs to disappear for a while. I hope he'll resurface soon.

facundo- if you want to do OPL3, find a local computer junker with an old ISA-slot PC and I'll send you an OLP3 card.

I suspect that at least part of the problem is that the DMG, while it was a big seller, did not sell very well in some countries. Perhaps Canada is one of those places that didn't have alot of DMG sales? I suspect that GBC and GBA have sold way more units than the DMG.

I did mention that eBay is not a good place to find DMGs cheaply...
I find them at around $5-$8 each at local thrift store, garage sales, etc. Probably not a steady enough supply for your line of work.

DROOOOOOOL. Oh, and BTW, heard about this on the Hardcore Gaming 101 site and loved the concept.

I has every ubiktune release now except this one. NOM NOM NOM. Will report back after I listen to it.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess my puzzlement comes from my viewpoint. I'm not really a musician, and electronics basically is what I spend my time on. When I'm working on my "trade" I can usually justify the purchase of expensive tools because I'm experienced enough to know they'll be helpful, and that a few jobs can usually offset the cost if I'm careful. Also, people who have had me do work for them know that when I was unemployed I valued labor far too low, since I had nothing but free time. I have been trying, since I got my most recent job, to re-evaluate how things like electronics work is going to happen for me, and if I continue to do it, how much I'll have to charge.\

In such a competitive and consumeristic world, it's nice to know people still value skilled labor, even if it continues to baffle me. smile

This is very good feedback, thank you guys.

Well, this thread is kinda about personal opinions of people concerning DMG pricing, not solely about mine.

EDIT: thanks Kineticturtle, I like the price breakdown, but I'm curious as to why you chose $40 as a semblance of profit. At $40 for labor a reasonably experienced modder would be making at least $40 an hour, an unskilled one maybe $20 or $25. Maybe I'm just being stupid for not charging that much for labor when I do mods for people... hrm. hmm
