I think it's sad and idiotic, that you have to cancel something awesome just because of a stupid misunderstanding... And therefore I hope, that there is going to be a physical release of this comp afterall. Your idea is something cool (and without a doubt the contributions of all the artists are too.), and it deserves being pressed on cd.
