should have an update later on today

Look, I've just tried it with genmdm v101 tools, os x 10.7.3, live 8.3.4 and Max for Live from Max 6 engine...

No issues whatsover.

I have an idea of what it might be... I am currently working on a GUI update for the FM channel editor, what I will do is simplify the patch so that this issue theoretically doesn't happen... wish me luck!

Hello all,
I've searched and googled for this, but I haven't found a satisfactory solution yet.

Does anyone know of a tool that works properly that converts intel hex files to and from binary? Preferably cross platform or just for OS X.

Spent hours trying to find a solution for this yesterday, thought I would try here.

It's about rom hacking for chipmusic, so yeah um it's relevant and stuff.

eptheca, which GenMDM tools version are you using (i.e. from when?)

Are you using the GenMDM v101 tool set?

Finally, I am currently working on a simple solution for 5-pin DIN setups.

I am looking at integrating the code into the firmware, allowing for a single firmware that covers USB and DIN MIDI.

The hardware would be simple (optocoupler, resistors, 5 pin DIN connector).

Anyway, wish me luck and if it works I'll make a tutorial.

Here's a simple gui, though the final one will have 16 sample slots...

Ive made a preliminary version of a user sample kit editor. It allows for (1) sample playback for auditioning purposes (2) an "emulation" of how the samples will sound on the mega drive (as in, just bit depth and sample rate taken into account, playing back the actual data that the sega will playback).

It works so far, and allows you to load samples into the GenMDM firmware ROM ala LSDJ kit manager.

Although it's not very useable yet, I am very excited for this and I hope that you guys will like it.

So... just updated and tested it for inclusion in the next genmdm firmware.

MIDI CC 90 sets the SSG-EG setting for op 1.
MIDI CC 91 sets the SSG-EG setting for op 2.
MIDI CC 92 sets the SSG-EG setting for op 3.
MIDI CC 93 sets the SSG-EG setting for op 4.

actually makes so much more sense

ah yeah cool! totally different to what i was expecting lol

As far as i can tell, register 90 only uses bits 0 - 3, with bit 3 setting whether or not SSG-EG mode is on. Do bits 0 and 1 set the op?

Aly James, how is the SSG mapped from register 90? I don't really know, and I couldn't find much info!

very interested... big_smile

Aly looking fantastic!

The SSG-EG ON / OFF and MODE are global AFAIK, but I haven't read a good explanation of how it works (apologies! I was just very excited to make v101!)

Ch 3 special mode fnumber etc are the full range i.e. MIDI note 0 to whatever the max is (maybe MIDI note 100?) I'll check it out ASAP and get back to ya smile

in general, crap in --> crap out.

start off with a nice sample! this is the key.

also, samples need to be loud. also, consider EQ and filter!

good luck!

Delek and TmEE and nitro2k01 will know more!
