Dam I would be so keen to come up for that but it will be right in the middle of my teaching placement! We should organise a Wellington extravaganza as well.

Sorry for never getting back to you Jos. I suck hard. You end up coming down?

Jos put together a video of the CHChip gig we did the other night, you can see it here! http://foxhoundmusic.blogspot.com/2011/ … video.html

The video is sweet!! Would have been awesome to have been there. I don't know how anyone could sit through that FuturNari track though

The only thing scary about 10k was how awesome he was!!

I thirds the free accom and poster hookups.

What's the deal with shirts anyway? I think life should officially be shirtless

WHAT?!

I know, so disappointed. I couldn't make it until the second day. Though seeing the few songs he played at the carpark rave was awesome.

Those photos are sweet! Totally agree that more shirtless bros were needed

I'm looking forward to the photos from the carpark rave. That and 10k blew my mind/made my weekend, I wish I hadn't missed cTrix!

I'm certainly looking forward to a full FuturNari experience too... amazing!!

I am definitely coming to aus, it's just a matter of when which I need to figure out!

Also, it was totally awesome to be able to meet everyone. I was starting to get a bit jaded with it all, especially my own music and meeting everyone and seeing other people doing their thing has made me excited to be doing what I'm doing again!!

10k and cTrix?? Super excited!! I'm playing the rugby world cup party and a renegade set.

Zach mentioned a FuturNari set, is this true? That would be sweet

Does anyone have any idea when they're playing? I can't make it until the second day!! I hope I don't miss anyone

When I ran a workshop here in Toronto, we had three options:

Borrow a Game Boy and/or borrow a cartridge.
Buy a cartridge.
Buy a cartridge and a Game Boy.

I think running workshops like this is a really good idea. That way people can have a go without committing to buying anything straight away

putting on a big event.

I'm definitely keen on this. I plan on putting together a semi regular touring event, which could incorporate workshops etc.

Also, I'm getting close to having a good amount of people for an NZ comp so keep an eye out for that!!

Thanks heaps everyone!! So many great ideas! Keep them coming

It's probably a good idea when doing the EQ to try not to boost or cut all the same frequencies for the guitar that you have, or that are prominent in the chip stuff

I really love the artwork! (and the songs are really awesome too!!) Who did it?

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to give some great advice!

I have been playing around with bands of other 'genres' for about a year now, but as jefftheworld pointed out this is probably doing more for myself than the scene itself, which I think is a totally valid point. It kinda sucks cos I can't really tell people to check out other chip artists cos others in my city aren't gigging yet!

I definately agree with lazerbeat about having accessable gear. I plan on buying a few spare carts (when I have the cash) so I can give them to people who show some interest.

I'm gonna have to whip everyone I know of into action. I think putting a blog or something together like 10k suggested is probabbly a good idea. I can see the benefit of having somewhere people can go to to find information on all the local artists and events as well as general information.

I think the first step I'm gonna take is to put together a NZ comp and just start handing it out at any gigs I play and just start talking to people about it and trying to get more people interested, use the power of word of mouth.

Thanks to everyone for the support and great advice, especially lazerbeat and low gain for taking the time to write so extensively.

Keep it coming, any ideas help!

Your ep's mean as bro! Being serious too

Being from New Zealand there aren't a lot of other chip artists around (I've only managed to find 12 of which just over half seem to still be active and those who are active are spread around the country).

Sooo I'm looking to try and boost the NZ chip scene little bit and was wondering what have others done to get more people in your area involved and I guess what have you done to just get people generally more interested?

I'm thinking of putting on regular-ish chip music and maybe art showcases which would hopefully get some audience interest but I'm more looking for things people have done to get more artists involved, as currently there's only a couple of artists in each major area so putting on regular shows would be a bit pointless cos they would just the same artists everytime.

So I'm keen to hear what others have done in the past to get more people involved and just any ideas people have that they think might get people more interested in some chip goodness, both as an artists and as an audience member
