I'm late to the party on this.  Really neat project... and you can get 7bit samples out of the NES?  How does this work?  confuse mode.

oh no - that's sad - someone needs to get that on Zophar's domain or any site really.  I still have the program if people need it.

that flier is seriously ridiculous!

if you have a C in the bass
an Em triad would give you a CMaj7
a G triad would give you a CMaj9
a Bm triad would give you CMaj9(#11)
a D triad would give you a Cmaj13(#11)

if you have a C in the bass
an Edim triad would give you a C7
a Gm triad would give you a C9
a Bb triad would give you C9sus
a Dm triad would give you a C13sus

It's a way of thinking about chords from my jazz guitar bs training.  When you can't play all the notes - you look for the upper extensions (which are triads anyway).  The 5th definitely isn't important though.  Keeping the triad shape still sounds good in chip music for some reason.  If you go with weird voicings that voice lead badly (not smooth) ...that can make stuff sound kinda funny to the ear.

I did a lot of stuff like this on this Pulsewave ROM flier arrangement of "It Might as Well Be Spring"

Although this connector may work, the original Sega Genesis connector has at both ends added plastic with holes for screws that secure the connector to the bottom plastic case for added support.

Has anyone come across a replacement for this original style of connector??

brb - heading to Western Union.

What I've been doing lately to try and study FM more is rip patches from great game soundtracks to try and see what is going on - It's possible to do with the emulator GensKmod

Alissia Dragoon soundtrack has zero samples.  Check that one out.

My release Trenchvent has no samples either - I can send you my bass drum patch if you like.  That can definitely be turned into a tom sound.  But yea - it's hard to get them punchy sounding like a DMG although it is definitely possible.

i've ripped a bunch already so I'll shoot them over to you when I'm done.

Quick question about the sample packs included in Deflemask...  how were these extracted?  Are they direct binary rips or were these taken from an emulator?  Sorry if this has been discussed already.
