I never thought we'd actually see these in kit form in the wild! Nicely done Kitsch!

Signs that I'm missing out:  those two posts.  Thanks guys!

HAHA! I really did think you were trolling as it's exactly what Derris-Kharlan and Raptorface did as a side project.

You're trolling right? Look up Raptor-Kharlan tongue

Isn't that just popular opinion?

Well, how about this one. My main criteria in a value assessment of a musical composition is the emotive response it evokes in me. Which is 100% subjective. Surely this is one of the main, if not the main purpose, of music.

It's easy if we're talking about a can opener because it has a primary intended primary function. To open cans. You could have the most gorgeously designed can opener by aesthetic standards. It could be light weight, low cost, recyclable and shoot fucking lazers but if it fails to open a can with ease then it can be judged as a low quality can opener.

What then do people think is the primary function of music?

My position is that there seems to be some differing opinions on what defines "quality music" and this in and of itself reinforces the notion that it's a subjective judgement. The traits that I value in music may differ from someone else's and I don't think my framework for judgement is any less valid than the next persons.

Sure, there is a finite set of criteria to judge music on however I might weight some criteria higher than others in my judgement. The next person might have differing weightings throughout his criteria and so forth.

Thanks for everyones thoughts, I love to hear more people weigh in. heart

these sort of conversations usually wind up pretty semantic/esoteric, but i personally think that "quality" depends on the ability of an artist to achieve his or her musical intentions, which is just another way of saying "technique" or "chops" or whatever. and it's certainly possible to rate a tracker musicians level of technique in a general way. whether its "good" or "bad" is completely subjective, but the level of technique isnt, and thats what i think "quality" connotates.

tl;dr: "good or bad" is subjective; skill less so

To qualify it was not technical skill that was under assessment, but rather the creative output. i.e. "this artist produces quality songs" (paraphrasing)

I was having a conversation with a friend about chipmusic that went as such (names and location redacted as to hinder bias)

My contention is that music cannot be defined in terms of quality as I believe listening to music is a subjective experience.

I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

Word, thanks for your patience. I found a source for black MIDI cables again, will be the best build.

I think we'd both be lying if anyone were to claim I'd been patient or that this hadn't been a heated situation. I'm not trying to sling mud in your eye at this point but let's just call a spade a spade. Make this right, restore your good name and lets see some more kickarse NES dev in the future (and hopefully a new x|k tune or two!)

The cool thing to do now would be to be proactive. I know I'm not the only one who was in this situation (last time I checked). Clear out the backlog. I know people would appreciate it and I'm sure that would be the last of the ill will for all parties.

Hi, its still available, but its only shipping to USA. The shipping time does vary, but I've been trying to catch up on orders last month / this month.

So you reckon you'd be able to acually send mine to me or what? Give me a refund? You know, either way.
