I'm sick of chipmusic because... wait, I'm not, it's all pretty cool actually.

Ui and Nazzilla come to mind — http://iloveui.com/ & http://www.nazzilla.com/ . I'm sure I've seen both of them do isometric-style pixel art.

With solemn sorrow we place the screamo into its final resting place of the great separate file in the sky.

Just like when we "cyber."

Just a quick note on the subject -- promotion takes much, much, much, much, much, much more effort than you would think. Even strictly talking about online promotion -- for all of the ways the internet helps you (relatively easy to get word out, social networks help things to spread), it can also work against you (the internet is hueg liek xbox and it is very easy for your own publicity efforts to get buried or lost among all the other noise and clamor). Chipmusic gigs tend to be extremely D.I.Y. and as a function of that, for any given gig you're generally talking about an organizational team of a size somewhere in the range of 1 person, so there is no "central body" to exclusively manage promotion & publicity. The downside of all of this: event organizers probably don't always reach all people who might be interested in these kinds of gigs. The upside: welcome to the underground, the underground is fucking cool.

BLIP FESTIVAL TOKYO 2012ブリップフェスティバル東京2012

TWO DAYS OF CHIPMUSIC @ KOENJI HIGH ++
---
Back in 2006, when the idea of a large-scale chipmusic event was first beginning to float around in our heads, we received an e-mail from a group of nine of Japan's most incredible chipmusicians planning to visit New York together, and inquiring whether we might help them to organize a show while they were in town. That was the catalyst, not only for the first Blip Festival event, but for the entire Blip Festival event series, spanning eleven editions in four countries. So now, six years later, as we're bringing the event series to a close, it feels good to be doing it in Japan with BLIP FESTIVAL TOKYO 2012 — where twenty of the world's most talented chipmusicians and visualists will be converging for one last hurrah at Tokyo's Koenji High, this October 20th and 21st. We hope you'll come join and raise a glass with us, and then get down and dirty on the dancefloor, to the lights and sounds of...

Was thinking about this, and had the thought that if London has a perception of being quiet nowadays, it may have more to do with the fact that London put itself on the chipmusic map about 10 years ahead of the game & set the bar incredibly high with regular events that made a really big impression among "early" micromusic.net denizens & whatnot. So while any scaling-back can give the illusion of "getting quieter," I think that dialing down the volume knob from "11" to "10" is still pretty fuckin' loud.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that nothing happens in London! There are some amazing gigs with amazing lineups happening over there. I was just trying to give 8GB props for hitting the ground running.

8GB moves to London; London chip scene heats up like fiyah. Coincidence???
