Well I don't really know about all of that, but here's what I'm talking about:

Is it safe to assume that this circuit is a charging circuit? Would a charging circuit be more voltage tolerant than the cell itself?

3.7v. I guess maybe I'm incorrectly assuming that if it has a circuit built in, the circuit is a lot more voltage tolerant than the cell itself?

That escalated quickly.

I do have a li-ion question though. Generally speaking, if there are only 3 contacts on a battery, is it probable that it has a charging circuit built in? I'm thinking about a psp battery, which, to my knowledge, does have a built in circuit. And is there any good way to confirm/test that without a) blowing the battery (or yourself) up, or b) opening the battery?

I don't trust unfinished software.  Also, having tested it myself, it's a mess even for alpha code.

Are you kidding me? This 'alpha' code is lightyears beyond the windows mess EMS ships. I've used it both in Ubuntu and OSX and it's never failed, been more reliable, and overall easier to use than that abomination of a windows driver.

+1 for PSP. Battery life is great, you could carry extra batteries if you need. I can go probably 8 hours running from the memory card. Storage shouldn't be a problem. I have a 2x microsd to pro duo with 2x sandisk ultra 16 GB cards and and its great. Installing cfw is easy as pie nowadays. Its just an eboot you run. Pretty big  active community as well. I got my 1000 for 20 on eBay.

Maybe I'll offer my opinion. No, the replacement case is not as good as the original. An original case is semi decent condition. However if your case is heavily scratched or otherwise cosmetically challenged, I think it's worth it. As I said, using the original R/L buttons seems to help a lot, I don't really notice anything significant there. I'm not totally sure how the home button row could really stick, isn't that more the bar itself not the overlay? The other buttons I wouldn't say are significantly worse than the originals.

Maybe they improved their design?

Overall, I have no regrets for switching. It's not like an ASM DMG case thats a perfect replica, but it's very very good.

EDIT: This is the seller I used, if anyone's interested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-Tr … 2582d5e1f5

Oh and the r button on mine is a little funky. I kept my original r/l and it worked a little better.

Where else but eBay?! This is a 1000 though. I do think I saw some for 2000s too. Keep in mind this is substantially harder than a DMG shell. Well maybe not harder but longer, lots of screws and things to break. Take your time and stay organized. I found a good YouTube video and worked through it front and back. Tweezers and a good flat tool/black stick are your friends here.

Now I regret not getting clear and painting half neon pink like that one amazing DMG!

Just finished this today. It took forever because I messed up the joystick spacer pad/contact thing, so the joystick wasn't working at all. I finally said screw it and soldered a ribbon cable to the joystick and motherboard, and it works like a dream.

I left out the UMD drive, because I guess it didn't work and I could never see myself using it. It's substantially lighter now!

Look how much empty room there is! It needs something, extended battery, big speaker, or MIDI in/out?

Crappy close up of the ribbon cable.

Where can I buy this game for mac? I can't find anything online.

Interesting, I didn't realize they changed. I'll just have yto get more specs on that cap and see if it will be any smaller.

Thanks for your post.

Just wondering if there's any benefit to replacing the 10v 47uf cap (the bit one at the top) with an SMD cap, like this:

Would this be any smaller, or is the best option to move it with some wire?

Interested in Pocket, GBC frontlight (not parts) and tetris flash. Would you do 30 shipped?

I don't know but it could be (from Wiki):

An upper room or Altan (less often: the balconies ) is an open, resting on columns or walls platform of the upper floor of a building. Probably the same word origin is the common in some southwest German towns name Aldene for often used for drying the laundry roof terrace of older buildings.

Woah

Pretty interesting article over at the Verge.

"The Andy Warhol Museum has recovered a set of images, doodles, and photos created by the seminal pop artist on a Commodore Amiga home computer. The artworks, made by Warhol as part of a collaboration with Commodore Amiga, had been stranded on Amiga floppy disks for almost twenty years after the artist saved them in the mid-1980s."
