Jazzmaraz is an inspiring high school sports coach from a movie.
Chipmusic isn't a genre, its an instrument. That's like saying "how should drummers wear?"
But srsly tho omg
That video is creepy. I'd say, best bet is to get yourself an el panel and cut it right down to perfect size, then use some tinfoil for your reflective layer. You'd have to figure out the circuitry to power it though.

Nah, they've been pretty clear that they've been trying to cut into the lower market segments, ie "poor families with kids". From that point of view, it makes sense, and will probably be profitable for big N.
Good point. And honestly I think their biggest advantage to that is insane product lifespan due to backwards compatibility. The original ds is still supported. I had a DMG as a kid and played it all the way till I got a GBC in like 99. I was poor so it worked out nicely.
On topic: I like it too. Tabletop game play would be nice. Maybe I'll finally be able to beat trauma center without killing myself and my ds.
Maybe Nintendo is getting desperate with new product failure and secretly addressing a huge niche market for their products. How crazy would it be if they opensourced the NES. Dream on.
Interested to know how the solder paste works. I too have always used wire. I saw someone use a toaster oven as a reflow oven then just clean it up after. If that makes smt soldering that easy, holy cow my life is complete.
Solid first release. The first track is easily the best. I'm assuming the little cover track was the first song you tried with lsdj?
Overall, what I really think would help your music are two main things:
1, Don't fall into the "wav channel is for drums trap. Truly using the wav channel for its potential will help your music sound more mature and authentic. It will help you unleash more potential out of a single gameboy so when you do 2xlsdj stuff it will truly be brutal and not come across as lazy.
2, Work on some effects/table stuff. That will help your music not have as much drone to it, you know after listening with headphones for a while it kind of sounds like you're just listening to white noise or a car alarm or something. Raw square waves do that.
But its a solid first release! Keep working, don't be content with your music. Always improve. I would stay away from using two lsdj. To me its like a double bass pedal in drumming. Not until you've mastered the single is it a good idea to go double. (Great example is wayfinder by infinity shred. Not so much technique but taste. Really works, but its not just littered in the ep.)
Also your album art was pretty cool. Sort of confused by the title, I assumed this would be a dos based release.
Not music but the ben heck forums are pretty crazy. Nesdev is slower but generally really good as well, even for gameboy stuff. And honestly twitter. Most chip guys tweet it seems like. Great way to stay updated.
Crap forgot to post. Got this in the mail the other day from CANADA and it is so gooood!
Hey this is good stuff! Never heard anything of yours before. What tracker do you use?
Aside from our little party the other day, I've NEVER seen any activity in IRC. I'd love to see more activity though, so if this gets us there then great. What I would really love though is to see the IRC channel implemented straight onto cm.o so anyone who logs in can easily go onto irc. nitro2k01 are you currently the only one developing/maintaining this site?

Didn't get any images or anything but the text is there.
Looks good!
It doesn't matter what platform you use, a phone is a dumb, shitty way to make music.
Basically yes. Although I would extend this to almost anything meaningful. Phones are great to waste time and okay to communicate.
What's the status of the teensys?
