Shucks man, thanks! Really means a lot. Your track was sweet as well.

I'm just getting started, more or less, hence the unfamiliar name and stuff. I should have an EP out around Feb. It's shaping up like jay tholen EP, but angry. and less impressive musically. that dude's got some chops. mad respect for him.

Thanks. My track isnt at all what I'm doing right now, but I think it turned out pretty good.

And Jay Tholen rules hard, good luck with making the EP!

This. Dope shit!

And all the familiar names delivered too. But Ghost Servant and Lagomorph were two names I wasnt familiar with, both did reaally good.

I have another suggestion: You cannot play consecutive open mic months.

Just out of curiosity, how does open mic events work? Its just plug your instruments, play couple of songs, leave? Or do you get feedback or what? I havent ever witnessed such a thing so I'm curious.

I just connected my ipod (phone is just the same) to my computer with normal miniplug-miniplug wire and hit record on Ableton Live and play on Nanoloop. I monitored through computer speakers my playing, lil bit of delay here doesnt hurt since its just loop switching on relatively low tempo.

I've been wondering about something and this is probably the best place to ask-
how did you all end up with your final track file?
To release my work, I've been converting the original .ogg file a thousand different ways. (not a thousand, but with vocals, at least 3 times)
Is there a way to directly record the file from the song menu to a computer?

I'm not sure what you mean but theres export-option on the "file menu" (the one on the right). That exports song as tracked to song editor.

I did my track by recording just live loop switching and then I just edited down my song from that by cutting unnecessary parts.

weird noise nonsense with an analog sequencer

That's the beauty of it:)

The fact that you can use it as a 4 track lofi sampler is awesome. Everybody did a good job in my opinion, my favourite track might be Lagomorphs!

I did one of those Auduinos about a year ago..I just followed instructions, but it was fun.

Next year when I finally have time, I'll build one of these and really try to do a nice case for it too (I'll replace the keyboard functions with some buttons, maybe):

BTW here is how I curate the PERFECT CHIP NIGHT

Act 1 - Impressive act with fan base that would come out and check him out
Act 2 - Under the radar badass who compliments act 1
Act 3 - Up and coming newster who is great but no one knows it yet.

Make sure the Open mic is tight and early. More for the heads, not for the casuals.

It would be great to see chip nights switch up act 1 or 2 with breakcore, punk rock, dubstep, electro, hiphop whatever of any complimentary focus.

Yeah, true on all parts. I've played some of my most memorable (Dkstr & Videovalvontaa) shows with punk and rock bands. Usually they are in to other stuff too, it's more about how you present it and your music. Then its no use to hide behind gimmick-ery instruments or retro imagenery, just play songs with right attitude. and those guys have equipment failures on stage as much as chiptune people. And they play uncomplete songs too. Then again, on chiptune scene I've had the honour to be Act 2 / 3 for Bit Shifter, 8GB, Goto80.. so I've been lucky!

I know, its scary to have to compete openly against regular "mainstream" music acts, but lots of you have the chops and material to pull it off. Playing only to chip music fans is only hurting your chances with growing your fan base and getting your music to a wider audience. Don't get me wrong, I love my chip bros, but the whole thing is starting to feel like a LOCALS ONLY Hardcore night.

This. On every level.

Good luck with expanding your audience, play loud play proud!

I'm about to start a very ambitious project for a new chip related product. I'm going to be working hard to attempt to keep myself out of debt.

Here is the first DMG I have available:

Specifications:

PCB Mount Pro Sound
Blue machine cast buttons w/ power switch
Blue LEDx3 VB Backlight

$90.00 + shipping.

Not into modded DMGs at all but this looks very nice, good job!

yeah, you need a hex inverter.  i guess my response was a little vague huh

Haha, I read it as a more of "EUREKA!" type of moment, no problem:)

Gonna give this a shot as soon as I find a place that can sell me that inverter.

So I need the 74LS14 then?

Hi! What is the simplest way to add another Midi thru port to Arduinoboy?

I've seen this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gojsse/5816995020/

So do I need to buy this Inverter (74LS14) or can I do it with the chip in Arduinoboy (6N138) and just add new midi socket to one of the free "legs" there? I just need to add one more Thru to my setup.

Best regards,
