I'm fairly sure I'll be taking the bus to Kitchener from my place in Guelph, unless someone staying at my place has a car?
Nick, you said you might be driving up and crashing at my place?

A lot of people play for free, because its so fun to do.
Hell, people go out of their way to find places that aren't actual venues to play for free(like the Stre3tz). It's to get people interested, and for the fun/lolz.

Yep. This makes a good discussion.
When will the various chipmusics be able to transcend their preconceptions?
Sure it's great to acknowledge influences (such as video gaming or personal computing), but as a medium, popculture is having a hard time accepting it as a compositional tool.
Is this because it's not 'popular' enough for popculture? Maybe this is a good thing!?

You'll get people who frown upon these 'software' to make 'fakebit,' (to put it very simply), but you won't find TOO many of those people here; this community is more or less mature. (from what I've experienced).
I'm fairly new, and I've uploaded a few tunes entirely made by software and they've had good reception, just to give some insight.
As arien said, good tunez are good tunez.

Exactly.
I grew up playing several instruments and am now majoring in music at university. The difficulty/technical aspect of creating chipmusic is a HUGE attraction for me. Just like how I'm constantly looking for faster/more difficult metal to play on guitar, chipmusic is a very similar venture.
My friends don't get that-_-
