1) load your sample into an editor like Wavosaur or Audacity, if you want a free sampler.
2) Overload the sample a bit by increasing the volume so it peaks, but not too much.  Compression would be a better bet however.
3) Then drop the sample quality down to 11-16khz and the bitrate to 8 so you get lots of aliasing and hiss.
4) It'll sound lo-fi but also full, due to the overloading and/or compression.

I can't help with making it sound like the "SEGA!" sample though, that's down to your recording.

i just made a recording using this exact technique -

i added a little white noise to it too.

i just saw an ad for "SEXY RUSSIAN GIRLS" with multiple pics. LOL.

Yeah, basic stuff. I had a bit of a revelation, though. I realized that's actually you in your avatar. I somehow always thought it was some random image from somewhere.

yep, it's me!

"Basic stuff," nitro you show-off. I thought it was interesting to know. Never thought I'd have a reason to want a pro-sounded Super Game Boy; now I do!

what i think is really cool though, is that you can add a link cable to a super gameboy (or use the super gameboy 2, that has a link cable port already) and then get really cool effects by using two super gameboy commander's at the same time. if you hit the speed button on the master super gameboy, it would only affect the tempo of the other super gameboy and not the pitch. if you hit the speed button on the slave super gameboy, it would only affect the pitch of itself and do nothing to the other one. with three possible speeds on each, that's 9 possible combo's of tempo and pitch. someone could probably do some cool stuff like that.

So a while ago I bought a Super Gameboy Commander controller from a japanese website because I was really intrigued by the "speed" button it had. When I got it and tested it out, I noticed that every time you press it, there's this annoying "WHOOSH" sound effect. It kind of ruined the songs when I would use it because who wants to hear crazy WHOOSH's all the time?

Anyways, I just pro-sound modified one of my Super Gameboys and I noticed that the WHOOSH is gone! The WHOOSH must just be something the Super Nintendo produces because it only comes out through the SNES's audio jack.

I know this is kind of a basic thing but someone might find it useful so I made a quick video to show what I mean.

Inspired by my friend Rob, I’ve put together a collection of electronic songs I’ve written over the last six years. For various reasons, they were never properly released but I’ve always been proud of them. I’m happy that I can finally share the majority of these songs with everyone. If you like hearing people rip off M83 and Girl Talk, then THIS is the album for you!

the way i classify it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that it's a gameboy. a song is jazz, metal, trance, or whatever no matter what instruments made it. that's how i look at it.

god, i wish i could rip off that packaging design. so good.

i haven't been able to get this to work. can someone write out a little tutorial?

like, which arduinoboy mode do you use?

You have to flash the aboy with new code, and it generates new modes. When youa re in midi mode, each led will flash as each channels midi notes are being sent.

alright gotchya. now i have to figure out how to flash my aduinoboy with new code. smile

another benefit of the SGB, it's faster than a regular gameboy so you can do more complex tables and effects 'n shit.
