Fuck yeah. Bring some of those Portland vegan donuts while yer at it! You'll do well! You staying in Edinburgh for a few days? Few of us are kicking about, likely seeing a few shows. Welcome to join us.

Hah, unfortunately, there are at least two and a half weeks between my departure from Portland and my arrival in Scotland. Even if I was able to keep the donuts intact, you probably wouldn't want to eat them after so long...Now, if you ever wanted to make the journey out to Portland for said donuts, you'd be welcome to crash at our place.

As for additional hang out time, that sounds great, but I don't know exactly how my schedule will play out. We may only be in town for the two days of the festival and then move on to do some more shooting for the project that's got us in Europe in the first place. We'll figure it out!

Also, I am currently planning a large chipshow (Micropalooza) which will hopefully include artists from every part of the US. Also, a showing of Reformat the Planet is going down on July 10th at the Hollywood Theatre.

In addition to the RTP screening, we're also bringing back DataPort (a bi-monthly series we'd like to maintain in Portland) the night before. Ondoh, Trash80, and Bit Shifter are scheduled to tear it up this time around. Full details here:
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/4519/ … screening/

Hey all, I'm pleased to announce that DataPort is coming back to Portland, courtesy of the folks at Backspace! Our current plan is to do this every other month. If we can build up enough of a momentum, it may become a monthly occurrence somewhere down the road with space for workshops and open mics.

To really kick this launch off in style, our friends from the excellent gaming podcast "A Jumps! B Shoots!" (http://ajumpsbshoots.com/) will be screening the chip music doc "Reformat the Planet" at the Hollywood Theater the following night. (TRAILER: http://vimeo.com/665366)

DataPort will feature live performances by:

· Bit Shifter [NYC]
http://bit.shifter.net/
An electronic musician based in New York City, Bit Shifter explores high-impact, low-res music produced using primitive gear and synthesis as a deliberate aesthetic choice. Adopting a distillation of the less-is-more philosophy, Bit Shifter operates with a standard Nintendo Game Boy as a means of exploring the aesthetics of economy, pushing minimal hardware to its maximum.

He is also in it for the lolz.

· Trash80 [LA]
http://trash80.com/
LA-based chip musician, Trash80, utilizes obsolete computer/video game hardware and modern technology to fuse unique melodies with hard-edged dance music. A developer of numerous software applications and hardware hacks, he is the brain behind the Arduinoboy, an open-source project for the Game Boy that enables communication with musical instruments. Trash80 can be seen rocking stages internationally… when he’ s not at your mom’ s house.

· ondoh [PDX]
http://www.last.fm/music/ondoh
ondoh creates music from a wide array of instruments. These days he has been using many things from the 80s… Gameboy’s, Casio’s, C64’s, etc… anything producing that wonderful lofi square wave we all love. Songs range from smooth and slow to dancy and romancy.

· Marieke Verbiesen [Norway]

Marieke Verbiesen is a Dutch artist based in Norway working with different  projects in electronic arts and interactive design since 2003. Her projects revolve around creative work with music, film and video based on hardware,  computer games, movies and popular culture. THREAD BUMPED FOR ITS TONIGHT-NESS

Don't show up late! We're going to get things started by making you cry before you dance the rest of the night away. Well, Nullsleep might make you dance and cry at the same time...

srsly

none to speak of this time around. 100% audio assault.

Man, what a show. I haven't been to an 8static since August 2009 (?!?) and couldn't believed how packed the place was (and with totally unfamiliar faces to boot). Thanks to everyone that came and thanks to 8static for having us play alongside two acts that are so near to my heart. I could go on about them forever but I'll let the videos below speak for themselves.

We would especially like to thank kozue255 for recording the entire evening's proceedings:

If you miss us at 8static in Philadelphia this weekend (April 9th), kindly join us next week for a rare New York show with these fine gentlemen/scholars.

Thanks for all the great comments, everyone. It's nearly a year later and we're still all :'3 about how this project was received.

We've made another track from this release available for download on Chipmusic.org. You can check it out here:

Don't see what the big deal is, this is how we make all of our music.

lol. Working on it all day today. Tricky to practice when bandmates live two time zones away. Here's a little teaser we wrote yesterday.
