Hey guys, just a final reminder to hit up your friends in town one last time for the Nullsleep/USK/Nordloef/Wet Mango show this Friday if you haven't done so already:

Looking forward to seeing you all there. I owe a few of you drinks for all you've done to help promote.

There are tons I'd like to list but I'm a bit short on time at the moment. One thing I will mention, however, is Errol Morris' "First Person" series. I just watched the episode "Leaving the Earth" for the 6th time and it's still gripping as hell. Same goes for Morris' film, "The Thin Blue Line" (though I think someone may have already mentioned that here...?). Anyway, Documentaries = Fuck.Yeah.

EDIT: Oh and "Joy Division" was beautifully done.

was awesome. am tired.

Hey Everyone,

Our bad on the short notice here but Leeni can't make it to the show. Oven Rake will be filling in tonight. For those attending, please bring as many of your people as possible. The more bodies we have at the first dataPort, the better it'll be for future installments.

No kidding. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the support/excitement, everyone. Please tell all your Portland peoples to attend, we still haven't met too many folks out here.

So 2 player prod is booking gigs every month in portland now?

Yes!

March show date / lineup / and dataPort WEBSITE (oooh) coming soon.

NOTE: Our fault on the short notice but Leeni won't be able to make it tonight so Oven Rake will be filling in. Still going to be awesome.

After four years of covering the explosive Chipmusic scene in New York City and producing the internationally acclaimed documentary, "Reformat the Planet," filmmaking crew 2 Player Productions packed up shop and made for the Pacific Northwest to bring Portland its first monthly Chip show, dataPort.

Following in the footsteps of its wildly successful East coast counterparts, Pulsewave (NYC) and 8static (Philadelphia), dataPort presents a showcase of innovative, experimental, and lo-fi music with an emphasis on exploring the untapped potential that lies just beneath the plastic shell of vintage computing and gaming consoles such as the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy.

Head out to Ground Kontrol (511 NW Couch St.) on February 3rd to experience the first installment of this exciting addition to Portland's electronic music scene and the ever-growing global Chipmusic community at large.

Thanks, Peter. Here's some more video, to tempt you further:

This is probably the most heartwarming thing I'll see this month. Also, this guy seriously needs to open the True Chip Till Death Awards gala at Pulsewave. I'm thinking maybe a medley of chipmusic hits (always a popular option) or, depending on who wins x award, Shnabubula can play their "theme" (similar to what's done at The Oscars when the winner is walking up to the stage).

how about an archive of tracks which end up being recommend by the site.

I'm not sure if anyone addressed this after Lazerbeat's original post but, for what it's worth, I second the idea of archiving the cream that floats to the top, however you guys decide to rank/score/weigh uploads. (edit: simply because I don't want to miss out on the good stuff during the weeks/months that I visit the uploads section less frequently)

Also, thanks to the creators for letting the general public have their say on this issue. I love how this place is being run so far. Keep it up.
