If you set it to channel 10, it will work automatically with most general midi drums fwiw. You can really do whatever you want.

I take advtange of the ability to set different channels for notes or ccs:

My channels are:
Notes
pu1|pu2|wave|noise
10  | 1 | 1 | 10
So that gives me the ability to sequence up to six drum sounds at once if I use chords. At least kick snare is easy though!

Pu2 and wav is used to sequence an accent synth or my vocoder.

CC channels
10 (7ccs to tweak drum sounds) 1 (1cc scaled set to cc1 to control mod wheel on synth) 1 (Range of 7 CCs) 2 (7ccs, controls my fx pedals)

Lsdj master works like  "your reverse map"

Youd have to grab the midi note and convert it to row position in your sequencer app, but its really handy for triggering for example an ableton live scene on live row trigger.

Does it send a midi note on each row number, while playing ?
I thought it was only sending the first row number when you pressed start...

Oh yea you might be right, its only on song start maybe?

I just mean that arduinoboy is also just generating midi clock like something like this

And you can turn it on/ change the tempo using the midi command functionality already in LSDJ. Then you dont need to update LSDJ at all.

However, I think this requires a new LSDJ version. Currently there is no way to sync 2 gameboys while running in MIDI out mode. (Correct  me if I'm wrong anyone - I hope I am smile

I think you're right Ledfyr. It would be great to be able to send the midi clock (event 1/2 ticks for instance) AND midi notes

Thats probably never going to happen, but id love to be surprised. From what I understand the dmg serial port cant handle the heavy lifting of note ons AND midi clock

Maybe arduinoboy can be altered to work with LSDJ, using one of if the spare cc commands and something like this:

http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?PHPSE … #msg118206

So everytime you do an X01, that is one quarter note pulse, and you can sequence downstream pulses. Then you can use a 2nd aboy on a bunch of gameboys that only derive clock from the channel.

Well you could use the mGB mods that change the midi channels, so you could have up to three. Though I'm imagining a giant wall of gameboy drones which would be amazing.

Yea but the source midi would still be the fixed channels. Arduinoboy can only send up to max 4 channels, no matter what downstream splitter you have.

If you made an active splitter that could transpose the channels, like the midi solutions devices do, then sure you can control more than four devices BUT STILL ONLY FOUR CHANNELS OF UNIQUE NOTES at a time.

I guess it would work for the clock sync but not midi stuff unless you intended for all of them to play the same thing all at once

I couldn't get piggy running on a clean sierra machine the other day so you might have to install some dependencies you have to setup or permissions too, need to check my working machine.

Invert chord progressions. Cover a song you hate. Do the loop at half tempo.

Also fine pitch is really good!

a cheaper option being recording lsdj chains as loops in maschine and then sequencing to those loops

In ableton you can use warping to map a recorded tracks tempo into the tempo track for the project:
https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/audio … d-warping/

Im using an arduinoboy~

So record gameboy audio, make it a warp master (this can be complicated if your track doesnt have well defined beats) check that the click track and your gameboy audio is in sync, and then using the aboy, set the lsdj to midi slave and record each track one by one to ableton as sync master. You might also want to run a warp pass on each channel and make sure everything is synced for each recorded channel, then mute the reference track and mix as you like!

Tempo changes are ignored when slaved to midi.

What Im doing right now:

Record gameboy stereo track to Ableton
Make that audio the master track for tempo sync. This preserves the weirdo groove of the track and helps with tempo changes. You can also record midi out this way, and quantize it to the master track
Put your gameboy in midi slave mode, record each channel separately, with the others playing chains full of K00 commands.

Its a pain! Is it better than justa stereo master? Who knows!

There are usb denoisers but they are very expensive. You might try running it on powered USB to decouple it from system USB noise?

Im a patriot and have nothing to hide.

Dirty pins, and sub bass making your cart wiggle in the slot? Clean the cart and the gameboy and see if that helps
