Edit:  Oops, google blindness. nvm

I'll give it a shot... and then post pics of the carnage.  Get ready to see an EL layer in the For Sale section. tongue

It's so tempting to just give that ribbon connection a quick press with my wife's flat hair iron...

Good stuff!  Needs gapless playback for full effect.

Looking at that last pic I realize that the connection I want is right there.  The "glued together tabs of plastic".  Duh.

Here ya go, NeX.  If you'd like any other views let me know!

Fake Motown style medley.  Think Commodores or Four Tops, the kind of thing they'd close out a show with.  Bonus points for crowd noise and an extended "Thank you all, we love you, you made it all possible, good night ... " with a big stinger on the end.

Title:  Motown Medley
Lyrics:  "Ooooooo baby baby baby!  Ooooooo baby... baby baby oooooooo!  Etc."

Woah woah!  Tone down the enthusiasm! wink
Downloaded.

"2 Dreamcasts + lots of controllers and misc things (for running emulators. can play more systems than you can imagine on these including zx spectrum/c64)"

What's that all about?  Emulators that run on the Dreamcast?

Or just controllers for lots of different things?

EDIT:  Well howdy doo, that's pretty cool!  http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=11086

Any chance you'd want to try and fix it for a nominal fee?

i would be happy to give it a try, only thing is i have no idea what to expect so i cant promise i can fix it.

but if you consider it dead you can send it to me and if i can get it going i can send it back for a bit of money, and if i cant, i can keep it to cover my time.

if the screen is similar to the DMG then it should be easy to fix, if its similar to the pocket then it may be doomed, BUT it might be possible to retro fit it with a pocket screen maybe?

got any pics of the inside?

i remember seeing that the lights are based more on the gameboy colour in tech,

I'll take some good pics tonight and post them for you.  smile

I took my gbl apart and couldn't figure out how to safely remove the lcd to even get a look at the ribbon cable connection.  It didn't look promising tho.  I feel like you could possibly get to it by just removing the screen protector but damn this thing's glued together well!  Too bad.  sad

Haha that Behringer thingy, I have the same one. Really havent got much out of it. But it sure looks silly in a cool way:)

It is pretty goofy but the big wheel gives a lot of control over the filters.  And a little Fat Boy's style scratchin' never hurt anybody. tongue

Do people not understand what i mean by synthesis?
it has nothign to do with song structure or ability to write music.

it's the technical side of things.. ability to create unique and interesting sounds.
attention to detail in the sound structure, not song structure.

Luckily i like ovenrake's and nullsleep's song structures too on the stated subject matter.

I realize you're not expressing a preference, but this is really close to an ongoing argument I have with a Frank Zappa obsessed buddy.  My side boils down to "I'd rather hear an interesting song than a well written one."  To me, there's a lot of fantastic chip compositions that just have no character (sound wise) and that's a shame.  I'm a huge blues fan and I'm always amazed at how those truly great performers were/are ALL about the details.  They can play the exact same rhythm or chords or whatever and make it completely new thru inflection alone.

On my way out the door from work, but I just wanted to say..

Nullsleep & Ovenrake are on the top of my list for gameboy synthesis pro's.

For real.. between Nullsleep's performance at blip festival this last year, and Ovenrake's "For The Great Party Man" release on kittenrock...
i think i've just about heard the extremes of the synth engine on the game boy. Hands down... AMAZING!

I tip my hat to you Jeremiah and Dakota... Keep up the amazing work and please... PLEASE do a split release together sometime. It would dominate!

*2 thumbs way up*

I've been lucky enough to see both these guys live this year and I'll vehemently agree!!!

*totally didn't catch up on what this thread was really about... carry on*
