Making good audio with the arduino isn't really possible unless you plan to use one of the timer interrupts and make it faster.
Thread about this was made some time ago, but I think at that stage the guy was still planning it.

I actually had a similar thing happening in LSDJ ages ago, only in one certain colour gameboy.
I can't remember exactly how it happened but some note was getting randomly cut off.

can you use the 4 way connector to sync 4 gameboys? if so, you have a sale.
From the picture I'm pretty sure it's a 4 way gba link cable. I'm not sure if these work for syncing, maybe someone else knows.
