Don't think that it still can't happen, though. When you're working on a charged battery pack, be careful not push the time limit. When it starts running out of battery you'll see the screen start to fade. You have about 30 seconds to save and/or safely turn off to save the work memory. Don't plug in the extension cord into the pack while the gameboy is on or it'll reset.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks so much for the info. Now I just wish I had more time to use it. Stupid school and work messing with my fun time!

I got one of those in mint condition (in box) a while back too. It's a great little unit. It's stupid to argue batteries over it-there's virtually no reason to waste AA batteries if you're at home, so this unit comes really in handy then. I keep it plugged into the wall for long composing sessions. This way you save your AAs only for playing out.

Part of the reason I got the AC adapter in the first place. I have a deep seeded fear of losing save data due to my batteries dying in the middle of an LSDJ session.

not to be a dick, but why did you post this? its an official nintendo product that id imagine many other people in the scene have small piles of laying around like i do, so not exactly new info by any means

by the way: why would you want to use an oversized, heavy battery pack that supplies less than 1/3rd the battery life that a DMG can get off of 4 AA batteries?

I just thought it would be neat to share since it was still new in the package. I was super excited and none of my friends give a crap about Gameboy stuff so I figured I'd share it here. As for why I wanted it, I didn't have an AC adapter for my gameboy, and now I do. Plus with the 10 hours of gameplay I get with this, plus the 10–14 hours with the AA batteries, I can play unplugged for up to 24 hours. Great for long trips smile.

It's plugged in charging right now. The power cord plugs into the battery pack, and the battery pack plugs into the Game Boy via the DC plug. You can either use it as an AC adapter, or just use the battery pack portion for up to 10 hours of game play.

I just got this in the mail. Brand new in box. (box is a bit beat up) Still has original zip ties, and documentation was still sealed in original plastic. Just opened her up and found a foldout Metroid poster that i"m going to be framing. Cool huh?!

Thanks, that is super helpful. I'm writing my first chiptune and am already finding a need for lower bass and more tracks! Searching local thrift stores for old bricks :-)

the variable speed knob mod can produce some awesome effects when you sync two gameboys. depending on which is the master, it does some different shit!

It's funny you should mention that, I actually already purchased the pitch bend mod from Nonelectronics. I'm just waiting for a DMG to put it in. I'm trying not to mod the hell out of my main unit. Will it bend the pitch without changing the tempo if it's linked in as the secondary game boy? Cause that would be BA!

I don't know if this has already been addressed. I'm new to LSDJ and was wondering...will 2 DMGs sync properly if one is half clocked? Like, will the timing match up and whatnot? Does this question even make sense? ugh.

Yes, I have done this myself on one song.  Just make sure the one that is NOT underclocked is master.  The underclocked DMG will play at the same BPM of the master, and will still play an octave lower.
