Yeah you can clean the contacts and put in a new backup battery (CR2032 or whatever). You will loose all RAM when you do this, so afterwards you need to install HT2 again.

Hehe kewl wink Always nice to see HT being shown off in different contexts.

Regarding the freezes, I'm not actively working on HT atm, so take your time. I'm sure with your help we'll get to the bottom of this eventually wink

Uh oh, that's bad. I'm afraid it will require quite a bit of detective work to get to the bottom of this.

In order to fix this, I need to know how to reproduce the error. So, could you tell me a bit more about those situations where HT freezes up? Is there any particular sequence of actions that will cause this? What is the configuration when it happens - does is happen during playback, when the player is stopped, or both? Do you have RowPlay enabled? Any relation to AlphaMode usage maybe? Does it happen while entering fx commands? In particular, the Fxx command might be problematic in conjunction with RowPlay or regular playback. If you enter an F command and the player parses it before you enter the parameter, HT will basically interpret it as F00, meaning you'll have to wait a long time before the note is finished. Iirc I put in some code that will prevent keypresses from being detected twice during the same note/row, so that in conjunction with F00 will cause a long wait.

Anyway, to answer your question - I'm afraid once HT locks up permanently, a system reset is the only option.

Phat! Chances of me ever obtaining a sfx expander cart are pretty slim (unless someone would clone it perhaps), but great to see someone actually making some code for this thing anyway.

Rad release, definately needs more heart.

Neat, a very solid release. Especially enjoyed the spacy bonus track wink

Incredibly strong release. Had high expectations for this, and they were 100% fullfilled. Congratulations, you two.

Yes, as 2PLAYER said, updating the screen with even a simple cursor would be too slow, and consequently cause a lot of noise between notes (and that's considering row transitions already can be quite noisy/clicky). It's not even the CPU that's such a big problem, but the LCD controller is slow af. I definately agree that it would be a useful feature though, and I'll keep thinking about possible solutions for the impossible wink

Thanks mate, that is super helpful! I know zilch about Mac, yet quite a few people were having trouble installing TiLP on OS X. Glad you've found a reasonably straightforward solution that I can add to the manual.

Yes, props for taking CC serious. Most of my stuff is BY-NC-SA anyway, but if you want to use one of the tracks that isn't, just get in touch and I'll issue a suitable license for you.

Thanks a lot for your help mate, really appreciate it! And yeah, forgot to correct the manual there, thanks for reminding me wink

Sure I want to figure out what's going on. Though at this point I'm pretty clueless, will have to do some asking around. I'm surprised so many of these progs crash, considering the values written to the IO port don't seem to be the problem, as I originally thought. Piano83 should crash as well, if that were the case.

There's a chance that your calc is actually defective, namely that the power level control might be broken. This could explain why most of the progs crash, but Piano83 doesn't. If you have a spare CR1616 or CR1620 button cell laying around, you could try replacing that. Also clean/straighten out the AAA battery contacts if they look dodgy.

The date code means your calc was build in January '99 btw wink The I just means that it was manufactured in Taiwan.

Yeah this is pretty damn cool. Especially "Swamp Waltz" was right down my alley wink

Hmmm, that's very odd. I'm afraid it'll take a while to get to the bottom of this. At the moment I'm guessing it may be some undocumented behaviour of the hardware, because you appear to have a very late 83 model. (After OS 1.10 they changed to the 83 Parcus.)
Ok, could you check out some of these programs and tell me what happens when you try to run those? Best to revert back to Ion 1.6U for this, as 1.6 doesn't seem to work well for you.
Also, could you tell me the date code? On the back of the calc, where all the copyright and legalese is printed, there are two fairly big number codes, looking like they've been stenciled in. The date code is usually to the right, a 4-digit number prefixed with an uppercase letter.

Edit: Another test: Load and start HT, then exit it again immediately without doing anything. According to my assumptions, this should also crash the calc.

hehe simulateous posting... ok, try 1.6 (not the U version), then.

Damn, that sucks... because I can't reproduce the error on my TI-83. Which ION version are you running, 1.6 or 1.6U? Try the one you aren't using at the moment. If that doesn't help, let me know your OS version ([MODE] [ALPHA] [S] to check, don't press ENTER on the screen that comes up).
