If so that's a good enough workaround for the lack of disk drive emulation.
Headphones out from Gameboy -> Line in on audio interface. Use an audio software of choice to record (e.g. the freeware Audacity). Export as .mp3.

You shouldn't plug/unplug anything while the gameboy is on.
