Ok, so I'm working on my fourth ArduinoBoy and so far none of them have worked... at least not for very long. The specific one I'm building now is installed inside of a DMG and everything seems to be working fine except that there doesn't seem to be any midi information coming in. I had the latest version of the ardionoboy code flashed on the RBBB arduino clone and every time I tried to sync my microKorg with LSDJ in slave mode the screen would say "Too Busy" or LSDJ would just freak out and go to this "Don't Panic" screen with a bunch of numbers on it. When I switch LSDJ to master mode the arduinoboy's lights blink according to the tempo. When I put the arduinoboy on mGB mode and press a key on my keyboard, nothing happens. I just switched the arduino back to the 1.1.0 version of the arduinoboy code and still no luck with midi in. I have checked my connections over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and everything is correctly connected according to trash80's schematic. I have tried switching the wires going to midi in jack, I have tried flipping the diode, I have tried flipping the optoisolator, I've switched out all parts for the midi in part more than once just in case I had some faulty parts and still absolutely nothing. Although I have checked my connections a million times I wouldn't be surprised if I still connected something wrong. I would greatly appreciate any help at all, I have been trying to build a working arduinoboy for over 4 months (yes, I know I'm lame) and it would be very nice if I could finally get this one up and running.

P.S. - On my previous arduinoboy I did get the midi in to work for a short amount of time, but I have absolutely no idea how I did it...

Thanks!!

i just tried the new version of the arduinoboy software and got the same problem. flash it with the V1 software and everything should be fine

I had the arduinoboy on v1 to begin with but mgb was v2, does this matter???

well when i put my midi device on channels 1-5 the led's light up accordingly, but the midi indicator only lights up if I move the pitch wheel or press buttons or turn knobs, not when I press keys tho. when i play a midi song from my keyboard through the arduinoboy i can hear a very faint beat according to the tempo that my keyboard is set to, and when i mess with the pitch wheel i can hear a really distorted noise but its very very faint. I'm using the arduinoboy with modded Gameboys, does that matter?? I have two different midi keyboards and theyre both doing the same thing.

Ah, ok that clears up some things, but is there something on mGB that you have to start? Like when you have to start the sequencer in LSDJ to play notes if you're using a ps/2 keyboard. Is there a  way to set the clock in mGB or a way to see incoming midi info on the gameboy? I appreciate any help! I've been trying to get my arduinoboy to work for quite a while and I'd absolutely love to get it working properly soon!

ok so i fixed the led situation and they light up in the right order and everything, when in LSDJ slave mode the led before it blinks when i hit a key on my midi controller and then two led's light up when i switch from midi channel one to two and hit a key and then three leds light up with midi channel 3 and 4 leds light up on midi channel 4, but when i switch to any other mode nothing lights up except the mode led... so what's going on? I'm using the current version of mGB and the second to current version of the arduinoboy code, does that matter?

finish it first. and use resistors between 220 ohms and 1k for the LEDs will be fine

ah ok thanks! I didn't realize that I could use different resistors

So I finished my Arduinoboy according to trash80's schematic and it syncs up fine with LSDJ, but when I try to use it with mGB it does nothing. I currently don't have the mode and midi status led's hooked up because I didn't have any 2k resistors, but it does switch modes, I am positive of this. Can anyone help me out?

Hey everybody I'm really looking for a gently used Korg Kaossilator K-01. I'm willing to buy it, but I would rather trade. I have many things up to trade, let me know if anyone is interested!

Check the key delay and key repeat settings in the Project screen of LSDJ. If the cart boots fine then I doubt it's a cart issue.

oh my god thank you man, that was the problem. i was so worried that i had fried it smile

Hey everyone I just have a question about my LSDJ cart. I'm using an EMS 32mb cartridge with the current version of LSDJ on it. I think I may have fried it or something because when I was using the cart in a GBC that was hooked up to an ArduinoBoy, it just randomly spazzed out and now when I try to move the cursor it skips around like 3 or 4 places before the cursor lands on something, it's very very annoying. Everything else seems to be working fine but with the cursor always jumping around it makes it really hard to use LSDJ. So can anyone give me a solution? Can I fix this problem somehow or do I simply need to buy another cart?

Can someone point me in the direction of a site or something that can tell me how to install a GetLoFi Precision Clock Control on a GBC/GBP? I have already installed one on a DMG with ease but I'm having trouble with the GBC and GBP. It says on the tutorial page of GetLoFi's site that the mod can be installed on a color and pocket but there's not a schematic available yet. Does anyone know where I need to solder the wires or by some chance have a schematic for installing the mod on the color and pocket?????

I agree.
Sorry to post this here but does anyone know of an online tutorial for making one of these badboys?

I'm looking to buy a GameBoy Transferrer 2 with at least 2 blank flash carts. My LSDJ cart got fried so I desperately need a transferrer and some blank carts. I can also trade for these items, I have a few modded Gameboys, some Commodore 64 stuff (including a brand new SID chip that is not installed in anything), SNES games, a Friday the 13th NES game (I know its the worst game ever but its the only NES game I currently have), a NES/SNES combo system w/ 2 controllers, and a few other things that I can't think of at the moment. Let me know asap if anyone is interested in selling/trading!!!
