wicked! yeah, they really are a great card. i got mine before the sticker, too, so no worries.

they also need another update so they work with the DSi and 3DS firmware, not just the latest AKAIO update. It can be found here or here.

I grabbed one.

By the way, a tip to anyone grabbing one of these, there are some tinycartridge & maré odomo-designed cart stickers over at fangamer, if that's your sort of thing. I've got the ghost from R/B/Y on mine, and it looks good. :3

I'm going to grab one for a friend, but I've just got a question. Do these have the stickers on the back with the authentication codes underneath them?

Yeah, it should work fine. Just keep up to date with the updates (for both the firmware and the crack) and it'll work fine. I use mine for homebrew with a DSi, and I've tried the card on an XL before. They use the same software, so it should be the smoothest of sailing.

Is there any homebrew that has a similar remote control function for the Game Boy Colour? It'd be kind of fun to toy around with.

Yeah. I use AKAIO (officially supported 3rd party firmware, iirc), and it has updates to bypass the DSi check thing. This includes the DSi XL

Well, people seem pretty interested in the custom ones Kitsch is making. I'm sure there's a market for more than one style of custom shell, though.

i dropped one of my extreme green ones once (my chikoritaboy). there's a hardly noticeable chip in the corner now. oh well. >:

otherwise nothing too major. i tend to keep them fairly low to the floor most of the time, so if they fall, it's not a big drop.

I've got way too many game boys to do in one post, but this one I'm giving away to a kid (It's a worthy cause. Trust me) is:

Nah, they're not genuine. Aside from the poorly placed label, they have epoxy mounted chips (as seen in the first post) and completely different hardware than authentic carts. Also no Nintendo logos on the PCB and a philips head screw instead of a security screw.

Ahh yeah. Now that I go back and look at them, they are.

Odd that they'd put effort into making the carts the dual colours instead of not swapping halves and all, or putting effort into making them half-decent fakes. tongue

Cool Game Boy clone, though. I still like that sideways one, but the fact that this one comes in so many colours is pretty awesome.

It actually came with two boxed pokemon games. Both are in Japanese, so I can't test how well they work too easily.

One cartridge shell is warped. They both say "Nintendo Gameboy" on them which is somewhat uncommon for a pirate. (keyword: somewhat). The two pieces of the shell are different colors, which is neat. The front is a blue-ish purple, and the back is grey, and vice versa on the other one.

Those actually might be legit, then. The real Japanese Pokémon G/S carts were exactly like you said.

I have a pirated copy of Crystal. HILARIOUS. (It's a cartridge copy of the one floating around the internet)

I like how it comes with a fake copy of Pokémon Gold. Classy.

That's fair enough. In regards to internal prosound though; I've yet to find a pair of headphones that didn't work with one at a decent volume.

True. I think I'd just want to keep that unmodded, though.

The search is still on! I keep finding the revised models with the backlights, and not in yellow. I did find some old stock screen protectors at a local store that had no battery light hole, though, so I'll probably pick a couple up for the yellow one.

When I say without battery light, I mean the model that didn't yet have one! tongue

I was actually going to put in a triforce backlight, but I'd probably be more comfortable beginning from the start of the mod. Also, it would be mostly for gaming, so I'd be concerned if my friend ever decided to use headphones...
