I'd like to point out that the source code is available and is well documented and commented.  Just wondering what kind of things people would want to see in an updated version?

I've had a few ideas, mostly usability improvements:

general:
song should keep playing when you enter effect editor
    song loop position not working
pattern editor:
    b+left/right - move 8 (or 11) steps up/down
    a+b+up/down - prev/next pattern
main menu:
    left/right - prev/next screen (jump 11 rows)

I don't know which is more weird, the fact that we weren't aware of this program's existence for so long, or that the author was totally unaware of a scene with an interest in tracking on gameboy.

it seems like pu1 and pu2 are force panned left and right (respectively)

Not so.
You have panning options in effect editor, L, R or C for each of the channels. All four are always listed but I think you can only change the panning of the current channel. Also it seems you can set all four globally in the sequence editor.

Btw, B+UP/DOWN inserts and removes track rows and can be used to shift the notes around.

Found the shuffle settings. Enter fx menu (B+SELECT) form the sequence editor. If someone figures out how it works, please share.
Note: Song loop position does not seem to work.
