Hi people,

Rutger here. In the past 6 years or so I made and performed quite a lot of lo-fi techno/acid in the duo AuxPulse and solo as DS-10 Dominator.

In the meantime I was also slowly working on my Diskette Deluxe project, because I wanted to pay tribute to the first music I ever loved: the music of Commodore Amiga games and cracktros. In 2013 this resulted in the EP "My Amiga", which I self-released. After that period I started to work on crossovers of chiptune and synth pop / new wave / synth funk. Four of these new tracks + the old E.P. are now bundled on the Cheapbeats label as "Space Tourism". With awesome artwork by Irini Pigaditi

1. Dream Tears 05:15
Up-beat 80s new wave music (like Nena, A-Ha), meets arcade arpeggios.
2. Love Poison 04:27
Chiptune / Synth funk with a fakebit mixture of textures. Some Sade influences.
3. Default Bass 05:10
A slightly moody chip-funk track using that Amiga Pro tracker slap bass sample, which was used in for example Martin Iveson - Jaguar XJ220.
4. Midnight Myst 04:34
Using the Megadrive samples of little-scale, a track influenced by Yuzo Koshiro - Streets of Rage 2.

5. Euphoria Melancholia 03:52
Moody Amiga Module interpretation. Expresses the melancholy I sometimes miss in chiptune nowadays.
6. Fusion Sucks, But That's Okay 02:08
Short attempt at jazz fusion. I don't hate it, I'm just jealous at all the fusion artists on Ubiktune etc.
7. My House is a Cocoon (feat. Nil İpek Hülagü) 04:13
Bitpop track influenced by The Cure. With a slight reggae swing. wrote the lyrics and vocal line together with my Turkish friend Nilipek. (who is quite a popstar now in Turkey) . Love how this came out.
8. Defender of a Lost Galaxy 04:58
Space disco. I was thinking of Turrican.

I really hope you enjoy. Commentary would be nice to hear.
Rutger!

What bothers me is that often licenses are very unfair, to be quite honest. Massive for example gets voided if activated more than 3 times I think? Something like that. And what do you get to do once you've maybe accidentally voided it. Nut up and buy another copy. sad
And you have to deauthorize it or whatever before you install it again, what if you forget? Yeah, exactly. I've actually already forgotten once.

yeah, that's pretty crappy.. if your system gets fucked up enough that it won't boot and needs to be wiped you can't exactly get in to deauthorize

That's what customer support is for guys. NI got that covered, trust me.

Thats what I'm saying, almost all VSTi have become too expensive these days!

Its a piece of software, not hardware after all.

Most of you probably use cracked VSTi but wont admit.

Uhm no, I don't think you understood me. Some of these synths are new other have been around for years. The pricing of top-level VSTs seems stable.

And you already solved your own problem: if you can't afford it, just pirate it.

Chipsounds is not overpriced, it's very fairly priced even. It offers so much, and has a very decent interface.

Btw, ALL top-level synth VSTs cost around that price or more.
Zebra $200
Massive €150
Sylenth €140
FM8 €150
Serum $190
Arturia Arp2600 €150

Many of those have been around for a while, so NO, VSTs have not become expensive. Which cheap ones do you own?

Dear dear people,

In 2010 I (DS-10 Dominator) started www.DS10forum.com together with HarleyLikesMusic. We did this out of a passion for the software, and the joy of creating a community to push both amateurs and more advanced musicians further.

And indeed a wonderful community shaped. 4 Years later we had over 10.000 posts, and an amazingly passionate user base that was always there to help. We discovered a lot hidden tricks in the KORG DS softwares and we released several compilation albums. Some are out on http://ds10forum.bandcamp.com

Around the end of 2013 Harley and I decided we were going to pass the forum on to another admin. We both can't give the time and passion to the forum anymore that made it as great as it is (was). So we found the very friendly and helpful 'cfgk24' to take over some tasks, but he lacks the technical skills to keep the forum up to date (safe, stable, etc) and to give an an aesthetic overhaul.

*BOOOOM*

.....and now the forum has crashed / has been hacked(?), lot of the posts have suddenly gone missing (only 1400 posts wtf?... i think older posts have been deleted or so). But most of the database has been backed up. And it seems the most recent posts are still accessible. It's a phpbb system. We're really hoping someone wants to take this over somehow, because the information we gathered there was extensive and valuable.

Would it be an idea to somehow merge with chipmusic.org?

thanks,
rutger

I used the Amiga Soundtracker Pro sample packs (ST-XX) in Ableton Live... http://archive.org/details/AmigaSoundtr … Packsst-xx
I think it sounds fairly authentic...what do you think?

Inspired by M83, using Plogue Chipsounds and guitar.

Thank you all! I'm glad I finally contributed a little bit to the Amiga chipsound. I  just gave the tracks a little update, so Bandcamp should sound even fresher now wink.

BTW I used these samples http://archive.org/details/AmigaSoundtr … Packsst-xx
