Finished testing the battery life and got it to run for 10 hrs and 23 minutes

I know you're asking for CD's but Is it ok if I send a rechargeable dmg to you?
(and maybe a few other "homemade gizmos")

The ultraviolet boy is amazing!

A DMG can safely run on as low as 3.7v or as high as 7v (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Also I haven't been able to test the amount of hours it takes for the battery to die but I'll try to see what I can do.

I want this so badly.

You can pm me later if you want one built. I'd be more than happy to work out an arrangement for that to happen smile

Great new products kitsch! I can't wait for the batt_dmg_v2!
And thanks for mentioning my project as "awesome" haha. big_smile

Thanks everyone!

And @Monotron please do haha. I can't wait to see the projects that come out of this big_smile

Thanks big_smile

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you all like this project big_smile

@kitsch:
Well after I installed the battery pack I didn't notice anything unusual at all and the backlight and other modifications function normally too. I would recommend de -soldering the battery contacts off of the back board because if they touch any of the incorrect contacts on the battery this could result in an issue. I didn't do this yet but am definitely going to in the future.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Also if any of you guys are interested in seeing a guide come out of this I'd be willing to make one later.

manufacturing new screens...  and the wait isn't as long as you'd think!

i was pretty premature before in saying they'd be done soon though, i didn't realize it then but i get a little excited about things and overlook how long it takes time to pass.  but, now, really.  soon.  samples will be red, green, blue and white.

actually, the LCD tech stuff is completed, the holdup is over <0.5mm in the plastic guard holding it into place (i'm adopting the same mounting mechanism as nintendo basically).  its funny how things work like that...

Once these are made I'll have five back pcbs I can actually use! I'm super excited about this!

Kitsch is working on making replacement screens with built-in backlights, but god only knows when they may become available.

WHAT?! yikes  Is he manufacturing new screens or is he just finding working ones and selling them backlight ready?

If you tap the case by the Gameboy logo and the pixels reappear and then disappear it might also have something to do with how tightly you closed up your Gameboy after you modified it. The Gameboy logo is pretty close to the bottom ribbon cable for the screen and if the case is putting too much pressure on it that might cause some weird issues...

Also you could refer to this video as a guide for heating up the ribbon cable to get dead pixels back:

Hopefully this all helps you out somehow

The orange gameboy pocket is now mine unless I get a good offer!

@Rolf: I don't think the green substance is glue because its not on any other power board I've ever seen and isn't on any of the ones i have that work (although I could be wrong seeing that I've never seen it before). Also the pot itself doesn't make a crackly noise but the speaker does when you move the pot to adjust the volume.
@alley beach: yah it's kind of a miracle in itself that most of the gameboys left still work almost perfectly or do after a little tlc.
@apeshit: Yes that sounds great! If I can't figure it out today ill pm you the details about shipping it to you. Thank you so much for being patient and helping me with this issue.

The prosound isn't going to give full volume.  You have to have it ran to a powered audio source.  Static during volume adjustment can be caused by a damaged or loose volume pot caused by too much heat during soldering but it doesn't look like you soldered to the pot so that shouldn't be the problem.

Well even through a powered audio source the prosound doesn't work or makes whining noises.
