Do you want a completed tune to rap over or some longer loops that you can arrange in your DAW of choice?

This compares in principle to what engineers do when they collect vintage gear, they are looking for a specific mach of behavior and sound that can only be created with a specific gear, and now here, code. If you want to do one of those little Crazy Comets "divebombs," get the .sid file and start disassembling... or make a blatant immitation.

Despite that, you still won't be Rob, and quirks in your own composing will come through. Music is great like that. wink

In HVSC, find MUSICIANS/H/Hubbard_Rob and listen to everything there.  It is one of the most important file folders in all of chipmusic.

The way to do it, is to share your bandpage, on your personal wall. And people like me would share it again on my wall. My friends will look because they trust my taste in music, they "like" you, and even if they dont share you on their wall, it still says "This Girl likes chunter"

My personal FB account is for family and friends that won't look at my Twitter account, and its status updates are worded accordingly.  It is read by people that already know about my music, and it is deliberately not readable by anyone else, so perhaps that's that...  I didn't open my FB account with the intention of meeting people, that's what forums are for wink

I skipped Myspace because I wasn't making music when it was "in." Not to steer too far off topic, but nobody happens upon my Facebook or Bandcamp pages, so the aren't very useful to me, which is a polite way of saying I think they are a pain in the ass waste of time. For contrast, entries in my main (Wordpress-based) blog, Twitter, Soundcloud, and YouTube result in actual looks and reactions, so those get the most attention from me.

I can dig up some proverbial "previously released" stuff if you want but I'd rather do something original for something like this; I won't really have time to compose like I mean it until after New Year's.

I think everybody forgot but I'd do it during/after January.

are fictitious musicians 'musicians'? or are their creators 'musicians' by proxy, despite not being musicians?

That's called Gorillaz, or The Archies.

how about ducks?

That's called acid.

Yes, it is a vehicle if you sit on top of it while it rolls downhill.

Since the only intelligent thought in this thread  (including mine) was the one about "if doctors need a degree to practice, why don't artists," and its rebuttal, "nobody dies from looking at shitty art," I am going to be devil's advocate and refer to something I read where a musician argues that the job of a performing musician or any artist is to make people feel better. Since people (like Phish- and Dead-heads) will put themselves through obnoxious lengths to see shows and feel better, this makes performers as culturally important as doctors. Unless you count crowd tramplings or alcohol and cannabis convictions, nothing these guys ever did has caused an audience member to die or go to jail. Then again, there was Great White...

I should add that I do not agree with that sentiment, though I might have when I was 22.

The architecture comparison was okay too. Many artists don't understand the statement, "sure, that's cool, but most people won't want that."

What if you make £16,000 a year from music during that one hour a day, and you only make £15,000 a year doing 9 hours of gardening a day. Music would be your dominant income, so would that make you a musician or a gardener?

Based on the size of income, that'd make the person a person with two jobs.

What is the difference between an amateur musician (or gardener) and a professional musician (or gardener?)

A hint: the latter says (professes) that they want to do it for a living.

Thanks for making an awesome reason to get a first-gen Genesis.

A one-off fakebit tune made using multiple JX10 (Juno-clone VST) instances, released to put newer material in the more "mainstream" marketplaces.

Now here:

and on Amazon and others.

I think the word you're looking for is "yes."

There are many reasons why video would go out on a home computer, however.

I suggest running the OS that came with it because upgrading a Mac OS (especially without giving it the appropriate hardware resources) invites pain.

I find that the nature of classic Mac OS was to build a computer that does exactly what you want well, and then you keep that computer for ten years, never to be upgraded or modified- and in the process it becomes your favorite computer.

I hope you're getting appropriate therapy for the tendinitis. The key to controlling it is not just choosing low-stress surfaces, but also remembering to introduce variety into the way you use the muscles, to avoid the repetitive stress. Stretch often, and try to have alternatives to typing available, like dragonspeak or paper. I had problems for much of the 90s, it took about four years to get to a point where I don't worry anymore.

It still hurts to play piano for more than 20 minutes, though. sad
