This was 8 movements for 8bit synthesizers and a small ensemble of instruments (string quartet, and wind ensemble). Describing a flight I once took, it was a crazy flight, and very inspirational (had a trippy dream on it). I hope you all enjoy it, as it was a blast making it.

also, my seriously awesome label:

Backstory: In my freetime travelling to and fro places, I brought along a few scores and transcribed a few of my favorite pieces into 8bit synthesizers in fl studio. I then mastered them at home, I love it. (this took quite a while)

Question: Monov, why isn't this being released through GUFT?

Answer: Because none of the property is of my creation, and I would feel bad if I did a cover album for a label that is mostly, if not completely original material (except for one song on my last album, Clair de Chiptune, which is a cover version of Clair De Lune). Also, if some legality issues turn up, I'd rather deal with 'em myself then me and my publisher turn up (and I am not expecting any legality issues)

So, what covers are on this album?

Antonin Dvorak's New World Symphony Movement 2
Beethoven's 5th Violin Sonata Movement 1
Gustav Mahler's 4th Symphony Movement 1
Igor Stravinsky's Firebird (Infernal Dance Suite)

why these songs?
Because I could find available midi versions that are free, hence I could assume it was legal to do transcriptions by ear and from scores I found online for the specific songs. Also, these pieces are some of my favorites.

can I get the full version of [blank]?
No, if you really liked them, listen to the classical version. That's why I am releasing this album

If you do something else like this, can you do [blank]?
Maybe, depends if I like the composer, and if their songs are legal for me to release

Very interesting, so that is just with one light bulb? Can it be done by having planes of light being held up?

they even posted my album there!

I think malobit is acting as a site to catalog albums (hence my non-popular album that no one owns being on there)

I love how you can find so many albums there, and I can tell it's not a bot posting them either, it's a dude that stalks a ton of chip websites.

MUCH LOVE TO RUSSIA!

Nex is awesome, top notch stuff, he even left me a little note when he sent over my gameboy, not only did it come sooner then I expected. Fantastic work, I'll post images later.

agreed ^^

I do impromptu, I just do what sounds right, an then once the project has been "done" for a while I come back to it, rewrite it a bit, and then I'm happy

Wonder who put my album up, I'm just some no-name-kid xD

That seems like a very cool hypothesis. Also, I didn't know that tetris players did that thing with architecture ,though I do play the knight's tour, and whenever I see a group of tiles I will instinctively do my tile method (basically, I have two polyominoes that are equivalent to a knight's jump that I try to fit at many as possible into one shape, but with however many combinations needed to prove that a tour is possible)

colors are commonly used in classical music to describe... "colorful" music (basically, weird harmonies). sharp and flat, like A# Bb ETC.

Explain more what this fruity loops syndrome,  cause you might be a synesthete.(explain or draw out what you see, if you see anything at all)

I am excited for the collab now big_smile

Reading about clinical populations in college, it seems most people that have this are actually troubled by it rather than proud. They suffer from an over-stimulation of senses when in an area with large noise-like traffic, for example. Still, absolutely fascinating.

Oh man, I never get over-stimulated. Nothing looks more awesome than just a ton of varied noise and sounds, it's so cool man.

And Saskrotch, don't think that counts hahaha.

Gunrunner, numbers and stuff kind of do that for me. I see timelines different than anyone else I know. Specifically times of the day and years and months. They all have colours and textures and feels to me.

I see them in different positions in space, it's pretty cool.

Bit Shifter (Lots of yellow)

i actually agree with this observation. in no way claiming to have or not have COLOURVISION5000, but Bit Shifter ALWAYS hits a "yellow" feel for me.

/me forgets what he was doing;crawls back under rock

that's color-association, congratulations, welcome to club synesthesia

I'll definetly check out Steve Reich haha...I didn't know Bit Shifter was a synesthete! Information Chase gives me lots of blues and grey's actually haha. And I guess we do see things the same way, with the lines and position of the notes. I've never seen circles though...that's cool. I see 2D as well.

I should try and draw how I see certain sounds. I love how i can't like, turn it off haha. No matter what it is, I just see it. I'd feel so empty without it, it's up there as one of my main senses haha. I recognize sounds by how I see them.

The worst thing ever is when people never leave you alone about it hahaha. Hey frostbyte, what does this look like? or this? why can't you describe it clearer? Can I try and draw what you see?

I appreciate it but it does get annoying after 5 million questions haha. Or someone's like "tell me all about it!" and then I explain and they call me crazy or say I'm lying haha.

I'd be totally down for a collab dude!

Bit Shifter isn't a synesthtete xD, these are artists that I find visually pleasing

Color of notes depends on how long I have to hear them, it's usually lines and boxes (depending on timbre, the boxes are less or more defined), also, I have a pretty much universal texture (except for some songs I get really thick circles of blue or orange). Notes are in very defined squares, but as mentioned before, I really need enough time to see their color.

Lower tones = lower down
higher tones = higher up

mine are 2 dimensional (also, the colors are very neon)

favorite synesthesia artists/composers
Gabriel Faure
Bunnymajs (he's got very simple colors, no purples and stuff like that big_smile )
Steve Reich (lFrostbyte, listen to 6 marimbas, you'll know what I mean)
Bit Shifter (Lots of yellow, pretty awesome, don't know if frostbyte'd like as a synesthete though)
I mostly get it for music, though if I focus I can see peoples voices

biggest pet peave: "HEY MONOV, WHAT COLOR IS MY VOICE?"
I give my answer "[COLOR OF THEIR VOICE GOES HERE]"
"YOU MUST BE LYING"

ps. Frostbyte, we should totally do a synesthesia collab album xD
