Hmm, well I do have a replacement RF modulator, hopefully it could be a pin by pin replacement! Either this or I will try a composite adapter.

It's a small CRT monitor so I figure it would work, but I'll see what I can do. I got the same lines on a super old TV as well though...

Well I bought it and it arrived so that's cool. However I can't seem to get it to work using the coaxial output to my TVs antenna input using an adaptor. What am I missing?

Re: PA system substitute. (15 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
I've been wondering this as well. A friend tells me I'll need at least 15". I only really want a pa for playing at my school and stuff so renting for the occasional activity seems overkill. Are there any super cheap options for active 15"s? (Maybe I could build my own )

Topic: Atari STe Monitor and Other Q's (7 replies, posted in Atari)
Hi friends. I have an opportunity to purchase a nice 1040STe with TOS 2.06 and 4 megs of RAM already put in for a VERY(!) good price! Of course I am very tempted to buy this but I have a few Q's before I take the plunge. First off, it has no keyboard! So does anyone in the states have a spair they could send me for cheap? If not I have an idea where I could get one cheap, but maybe one of you friends could help me out. Secondly whats the monitor situation with these? I have a PS1 LCD but preferably a VGA adapter + monitor would be ideal. I'm in NTSC land if that helps. The VGA adaptors I've seen appear to only be monochrome. Maybe this would be a good solution?

Lastly what would be my best option for backups? I don't really have the cash to build an Ultrasatan right now and the HxC floppy emulator certainly doesn't look ideal. Would I be fine sticking with floppies until I upgrade to Ultrasatan? (If anyones curious my ideal setup would be an internal HD and then something like an SD card slot for data transfers.)
Sorry if the answers are really obvious. Thanks for any and all help!

Well crap ha. I bought two model 2's and neither are VA3's One is VA1 something and the other I haven't cracked open yet. I'll do sound comparisons, but now I'm after two VA3's. (Hit me up )

Re: detailed review of genesis / md audio across hardware revisions (16 replies, posted in Sega)
hmmm, my guess is that a CCAM Model 2's would all sound the same... Its the same ASIC revisions and the CCAM replaces the audio signal path, so unless the noise is caused by power or some other issues I would think the CCAM would be dandy. I'm probably entirely wrong here though

Another idea struck me, this would be neat if retrousb got wind of this. Could be reworked to make the Retrovision much easier to produce...

No, you didn't.
(Unless you actually knew about the mirrored RAM on $E000-$FDFF)I was thinking about it, but didn't know how to implement it.
Theta_Frost wrote:An odd feature I would like to see would be the VIN pin on the connector moved to some pads as well... I plan to experiment with this soon.
What are you trying to do? Since the Vin pin has very snug voltage range requirements, and only works if the program running on the GB activates it, I think you're better off injecting your signal into the post-CPU, pre-AMP part of the chain.
This is a good point, it was more rambling as I was spilling out ideas. However somewhere along the line a cart with an external soundchip would be rad!
How about 2 crystals on board and a switch to go from underclocked to not? If work on FPGA boy is really ambitious would it be possible to implement an R800 CPU as a sort of accelerator? Also I'm learning eagle right now too! I'm designing some GB carts. (Just 64MB as seen on Reiner, etc.)

This is fantastic! Should prolong the longevity due to failing caps and such. Transplanting a SGB CPU should be way easier now too. I was thinking of a expanded RAM idea like nitro as well. An odd feature I would like to see would be the VIN pin on the connector moved to some pads as well... I plan to experiment with this soon. As far as MIDI sockets go too, I use 1/8 sockets if you care. Maybe this could also be a good opportunity to beef up the sound circuit with a better opamp and such. (Maybe the need for a prosound mod could be eliminated!) I really hope to see this go into production! Awesome work! Now where is Nex's redesigned front board with a pocket screen?!

When I played it, it came out with this sick noise/groove styled thing something like Tom (Henry Homesweet ) would use!
even adding some LSDJ, Nanoloop
Couldn't resist!
